It's a two pronged attack.

On one hand they intend to use the word retard since it's not PC and also to imply you are one. It's very telling of who they are to me. Usually said by people who have no education or expericne in the topic they are speaking of. They have the experience of living in a small town and mining coal and don't accept anything outside that.

What is considered retarded in America is middle of the road fact and human decency elsewhere. Who is really in the minority of how they think? Mental illness is people who don't share the hive mind. American conservatives in general are out numbered. Their views would be fine in 1960 but it's not 1960. It's right in the word "conservative" so one who does not like or accpet change. One who prefers to keep things as they are.

 

I'm with you on that, I get so tired of the childish names. What makes it worse is how it's used during really serious shit. On a news forum I saw a list of the hundreds of names that democrats assigned to the right, deplorables and middle class. Republicans try to be just as "clever".

 

I suspect American socialists are outnumbered as well.

I read about the 'Hanoi Jane" thing. She was apparently protesting the United States attacking civilian targets. It probably made no sense to anybody back then. These days I think people would say she was right.

She claims that the pic taken of her on the anti-aircraft gun was misinterpreted. She didn't mean to send the message that those United States operatives who continued to attack would be eliminated or shot with anti-aircraft ordinance. I guess she must have thought it would be a cute pic.
