My hampsters dying. Please help. i love him to much and the cat got into his cage and now he has a huge gash in his side and an almost healed one on his neck, he can berly open his one eye and keeps tring to get the gunk of the other one. hes survived 3 nights now but isnt doing to well..hes sleeping on his side and doesnt walk around much. i need help and my parents wont take him to the vet. what should i do..anything would help thanks.
Really taking him to the vet is the only thing you can do... Any medicine for humans is likely too powerful for him... I suppose just try to keep him comfortable, and keep the wounds clean, though I wouldn't use anything stronger than water.
Really, he needs antibiotics, as there is a very high risk of infection from the cat's claws... But the vet is the only place you could get them.
I had a little kitten that got chewed up by a dog and we took him to the vet and they gave him antibiotics, said if we didn't bring him in he would have died.
i know but my parents are working and dont really have the money to give help to a hampster and plus the drive would be 3 hrs away cause the vet here isnt that good and just sends you to the next city over..
i think hes going to be ok..hes eating alittle here and there and i help him drink water..im just waiting for him to be healed up. i hope hes ok
I hope he is ok to, maybe if you can get him to the vet you can work out some sort of payment plan. If you have to walk to get him there.
Maybe you can call the vet and tell him/her the situation. He might be able to suggest something. Most vets become vets because they love animals so hopefully he'll be sympathic to your situation. Maybe he'll even be able to work something out as far as payment goes. If nothing else maybe he can give you some advise. Hope the little fella's OK.
One thing I do whenever I get any kind of infection is put a little lemon juice on it. It seems to do the trick.
ohhhh, how sad. i don't like hamsters but i hope that everything is ok and turns out for the best i know how it is. but if he is not going to make it at let his last monets with you the best and let him know that he is loved and to go to the godess OR god, whichever. and that thay will take care of him. love and blesings.
