He could probably get a golf club. Apparently that's easily enough to take over a whole neighborhood there...
I'm pretty sure people understand where we are coming from. That really all that matters. I don't care to be too precise with words. I understand that to some it may mean the same while to others it may be different.
Fears driving me? Let's just say, whenever I'm driving, the Devil is riding shotgun, passed the kingdom come in a long black coupe Deville with horns on the grill, but it ain't the devil behind the wheel.
The more precise we are with words, the more exact communication can be. There is enough scope for misunderstanding between people. I am passionate about being precise with words for this reason. Also, Eric's post was worded as if to say those who had said "No" were naive or foolish, and since I DO do what you and he are describing, regarding fear being helpful, I think the difference matters here.
Lets get one thing straight. You're not allowed to disagree with me. You were suppose to say: "Yes Total Darkness, as usual you are correct. I apologize and beg for your forgiveness. Your wise words of wisdom never fail to inspire me."
Nope, not what I said. Don’t take what I said out of context. I’ve been mentoring to young folks for over 30 years and my comments and sighs are from frustration. I hate seeing people taking unnecessary risks for the sake of thrills or out of sheer boredom. Seen enough people get fuuucked up!
So, that's to everyone who answered no.. And you seem to imply ignoring it would be foolish? Right? So "in his post he addressed those who said no as if they were naive or foolish" is not taking anything out of context And my answer is the same. We weren't answering no, we don't pay attention to fear, just that we don't let fear DRIVE them. I've not saying you're wrong, just that what you're describing is different than the question. I know I'm being a bit dog with a bone but I don't like being accused of twisting words or taking something out of context : )
edit for better phrasing. What words WOULD you use to describe someone who takes risks for fun to ease their boredom?
I always said a life, lived in fear is a life half lived. But lately I hate eating at fast food places, or any place but home owned diners. I worry what I might be eating. Anyone else feel this way?
Fear. You don't have to be afraid of being afraid. Its like saying, "the only thing you have to be angry about is anger itself."
Yes, that's true - Anger is an emotion that very much has to be controlled. - Just, like, Fear That, is the key
