I am all for a Men's Forum. I really wish someone would try a Personal Forum for the Issue again. If it generates interest, there is a good chance it may become a main page forum.

And there are PLENTY of Personal Forums which are very well attended. I have said, and I will post a "Sticky" to link to it, if someone has the initiative.

Hell, Skip had the initiative for this ENTIRE site. Someone coud do a Dude Ranch. C'Mon!

 

a few things.

I made the comment about the government thing. I didnt say women WERE equally represented. I said women have EQUAL ability TO BE represented. As far as i know, women have always been able to run for office, they just couldnt always vote. Jeanette rankin was elected to the house of reps in 1916, 4 years before the vote. Maybe i'm wrong and a bill was passed allowing this woman to run for office, but i cant find any evidence of it. So if so, please let me know.

As for guys whoring around? Come on, you must be joking. BILL CLINTON. Has anyone had their name dragged through the dirt MORE in this country for whoring around than THIS GUY?

As for pay. I posted a link + article about the pay gap, no one addressed it..so let me post it again. There are links to several articles on there that talk about the pay gap and the "glass ceiling." The ones i've read argue that its NOT gender discrimination that causes the wage gap. but often choices women make. I'd like to see some comments on that.

I dont think anyone would argue that there ISNT gender discrimination in this country. Every country has it. It's something we need to work on. However, i think its a bunch of bull to say its slanted only in the direction of women. There are double standards for men, there are double standards for women. I think it was super girl who said that men and women both have gender issues that are separate. Its not like we can put the issues on a scale and determines who has it worse. It is stupid for EITHER side to say that the opposite sex has it easy. Until i find a person who has lived as both a man and a female(not transvestites either!) i wont believe that anyone is qualified to say which side has it easier.

 

Yes, I aggree that men have gender issues, too. But the orginal poster didn't say that they didn't (I don't think), and this post wasn't even about who actually had it worse when it came to gender issues.... you kinda took it over. Who ever said prostate cancer killed more men than breast cancer killed womyn was WAYYYYY off. Here are some actual stats, not just stuff pulled outta someone's ass.

There are, at minimum at least 3000 more deaths from breast cancer than prostate cancer per year. Ya know, it isn't a contest at all, and the end result isn't the problem, it is people who report untrue statistics.


There are more than 260,000 new cases of cancer in female specific cancers.
184,300 of breast cancer per year. Plus 44,000 deaths, 317,000 cases of prostate cancer (most of which are in men who are OVER 70 years of age and most of which are encapsulated and will not be the cause of death in the patient and usually don't actually need treatment.) and about 41,000 deaths. Plus 350 deaths from testicular cancer (possibly the least deadly cancer known!) Plus 76 thousand new cases of uterine, cervical and ovarian cancer, PLUS 27 thousand deaths from of uterine, cervical and ovarian cancer, PLus the 840 womyn who die from Vulva cancer, which most people have never even heard of, and kills more than twice as many people as testicular cancer. PLEASE don't tell me the Medical Profession spends more on Womyn's Health Issues than Men's because it is FAR from the truth, the MAJORITY of new drugs aren't even tested on womyn. Only on men. Men's health issues get MUCH more money than womyn's heath issues. This is a matter of fact.

Deaths from female specific cancer: estimated 71,840 per year (as of 1992) (44,000 plus 27,000 plus 840)
Deaths estimated from male specific cancer: 41,350.

Not to say that male or female specific cancer any one is MORE important, just that more womyn die from female specific cancer than men die from male specific cancer.

Main cause of death in both womyn and men in the USA? Heart disease, and men are MUCH more likely to get early diagnosis, as womyn's symptoms are not the same as men's and ALL the research has been done on men. Also the treatments are different for womyn and men, so if a womyn not only gets misdiagnosed and her heart disease is missed (usually she is told she has back problems or is "nervous") the "standard" treatments, all of which were tested ONLY on men, may not be appropriate for her.

Please don't say the standard for care of womyn in the USA is better for womyn than for men, I WORK in health care, and I can assure you, this ISN'T true. A man presenting with classic male heart attack symptoms in a regular ER is 5 times as likely to get proper diagnosis and proper treatment than a womyn, who is more likely to be sent HOME with a diagnosis of back ache or "indigestion." I had a freind who DIED because her heart attack was "female specific" and her doctor missed it and sent her home, where she had two more heart attacks in the next few days, finally got proper diagnosis at a good teaching hospital and then died on the operating table. If she had been properly diagnosed the DAY she had the first heart attack (which would have happened, had she been a man) she would still be alive. She left a child alone and parentless.

I dont think those numbers are adjusted to compensate for there being more women than men in this country. There are 5 million more women in this country(as of 2000) than men. Thats 5 million more chances for breast cancer than prostate cancer. That could explain why more women die of breast cancer than prostate cancer. Either way, all forms of cancer need to be funded more so we can find cures and better ways to prevent them.

 

The deaths and incidences from female specific cancers are still almost DOUBLE those from male specific cancers. I haven't checked the population stats yet. 5 million more womyn, I didn't know that.

But YES, all cancers need research and treatment options. But when you are looking at 4 or so cases of penis cancer a year, and 185,000 cases of female breast cancer, which one do you think is going to get more attention?

Anyway, heart disease is the biggest killer of Americans. And much more money has gone into "traditional" male based treatment and diagnosis strategies then female based ones. BOTH need to be investigated because heart disease effects both men and womyn and kills hundreds of thousands of both every year.

Most cases of prostate cancer are ENCAPSULATED and do not cause the death of the patient. (My step father has it, and they aren't even treating it, as it is so encapsulated, that the cancer will outlive him and it isn't a risk to his heath. There are still more breast cancer deaths. I was making a point with numbers.

This is just false. You are making this assumption based on the fact that breat cancer is a female specific cancer. 100% FALSE.

Men DO have breasts and DO develop breast cancer. Albeit at a MINISCULE amount which women do, but they still get it.

Therefore, breast cancer is not a female specific disease

Thus making the numbers(based on your numbers):

27,840 for women
41,350 for men.

WOOHOO men die from gender specific cancer more frequently than women do. THATS something to boast about!

anyway, back to the original post, i think most of the posts titled "can i get pregnant from swallowing" are either trolls looking to mess with people, or girls who were too stoned in sex ed or basic biology to pay any attention. as for not getting along with other women, i see no rules stating i'm supposed to get along with someone just because they have the same plumbing as i do. they do NOT have the same problems i do.

i think there ARE a lot of women who complain entirely too much about their lot in life, but certainly expecting fair trade is justifiable. in terms of empirical evidence of abuse, mishandling of women's health (our bodies are NOT the same as mens), and what is expected of the SAHM vs. the working mom vs. single mom vs. working single non parent etc., it's an interesting exchange between women. i don't see why i should worry about whether or not some man is looked upon as a weenie for staying home with his children when i also get shit for staying home with my kids. if you guys wanna stay home with your kids, quit being such babies to culture and do it. if your woman beats you, get her ass arrested. i don't see the problem.

but what i'm also seeing, and perhaps i just wasn't paying attention before, is a whole lot of girls being very mean, hateful and bigotted towards boys. thought that was perhaps something that needed to be addressed.
