Well now that the official video for "Hell Yeah" by Beck has dropped, I thought I'd chime in and say... GUESS WHAT CHILLIES?!?! I'VE HEARD THE NEW BECK ALBUM....and IT IS GOOD!!! ....REEAAAAAALLY GOOD!!! Now yes, I will admit that well I aquired the chance to listen to the album through legal channels, the fact that I still jam to the tracks is a bit on the shady side. No fear though, because I will no doubt be getting the album when it drops. Especially considering the fact that you can get a version dubbed into Dolby 5.1 with extra remix tracks and music videos. Now about the album.... friends, gather round, cuz this album is beyond choice. I don't usually dance in public halls, but when I strap my earphones round my head and blast Black Tamborine I can't help but shuffle my feet. Each and every song is so wonderful and it drips with that Beck style you just can't help but love. This album has much more focus than his past pop-created ventures, the so-cal Mexican American vibe is thick and ripe throughout every song, contrary to his other bigger danceable records (mainly talking here about Midnite Vultures and Odelay) where the sampling was a bit more skitzophrenic. I've heard almost all of Beck's albums (Mellow Gold, Stereopathetic Soul Manure, Odelay, Mutations, Banjo Story, Midnite Vultures, Sea Change, One Foot in the Grave, Golden Feelings.... I've yet to get my hands on "A Western Harvest Field by Moonlight" though) I'd say this has some of the more memorable tracks in Beck's Repetawa (however the fuck you spell that one) I won't try and say I have a current favorite because they all rock my world and as soon as I say "DAMN, THIS IS THE BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM" the next track comes in and rocks my everlovin' earhole. The ones I seem to get stuck in my head the most though are "girl" "earthquake weather" and "Go it Alone." Oh, and for those thinking that this would be like Sea Change with dancable beats.... get ready to have your world turned upside down. I love beck.... he sexes my earhole up right.
You kinow, everytime some random person I didnt know would IM me online, they asked if im a huge beck fan, and id always be like whos that? seriously I dont even know who that is.
Beck is great. He's the king!! He also looks like the Chosen One from Kung Pow. Oh wait... I'm talking about Jeff Beck. I'm sure your beck is good too, though...
I WANT MORE BECK, yes I come from the Jeff Beck generation, and he's cool, but BECK is so awesome. My daughter left me a lot of discs to listen to this weekend, one of them is Sea Change. I'm so hooked. *need more beck* It's rare for me to hear a musician and get this swept away. but I am. I love when that happens.
