i was pleasantly surprised. I figured oh great..paul mccartney, the antithesis to the super bowl...but surprisingly it was a good show.
I watched a couple minutes of it. It was pleasant enough, but I wasn't really moved by it or anything. As great as the Beatles were, Paul McCartney has become a washed up old man, as have most aging musicians who refuse to call it quits when they're still young and fresh with ideas. It all seems very cookie-cutter to me. You can only hear these songs and watch these corny, overblown half-time shows so many times before they not only become painfully vapid, but completely devoid of anything resembling substance and creativity.
See that's what truley impressed me about the whole thing. I was expecting a performance where I'd be like damn Paul, time to retire - but he truley nailed all of the numbers like he was a 20 something fresh musician. I'm not looking for new ideas from Paul, its just not going to happen, but to get up there and play like he did was very impressive to me.
Paul was great and I hope he keeps playing as long as they can push him out onstage in a wheelchair and he can play and sing those wonderful songs!Long live Paul,Ringo, and the Beatles music! ~peace
no denying that - they all played well. I guess the whole feel to it was really wholesome to me. I hardly ever bother watching the half time show as its usually complete cheese - like Janet last year or Aerosmith or whomever else I've seen up there. Paul McCartney and Beatles music is the great music neatral zone. No matter where your from, what your up bringing, you appreciate it.
agreed, im a hiphop head but my mom is always blasting hte beatles so i appreciate their music. The half time show was better then last year but i was hoping to see another white boobie!
hahaha! actually yeah, i would much rather see paul then some stupid ass pop singer that has to show her 40some year old saggy tits to make it interesting... and no nipple at that! =/ i also wanted to comment that paul looks great for his age! i guess all that money can do it though.
