Oh man, it was a simple point but you still couldn’t grasp it, I’m not sure if I can make it even simpler for you - but here goes

The ‘natural/unnatural – normal/abnormal’ argument has been used for many things one of the most well-known is its use by homophobes so I used that as an example.

It was used and is still used by homophobes to harass and repress homosexuals and the same type of argument has been used to do the same, for example once slavery was said to be ‘natural’ because those in slavery were ‘clearly’ inferior to the group enslaving them it was the idea that underpinned much of European imperialism.

But ideas change slavery is now seen as abhorrent and as you have pointed out homosexuality as natural

    Views and attitudes change

I think many do now and will increasingly come to see your view - that men are naturally dominant leaders and women are naturally subservient beings that should only concern themselves with things like raising children - as old fashioned and even ‘silly’

Remember that the big argument against women getting the vote was that they were mentally emotionally and intellectually inferior to men and those women asking for the vote were often portrayed as dumb, ugly, hateful women who were incapable of finding a ‘good’ man (often the way you seemed to have portrayed ‘feminists’).

Are you arguing that you think women are mentally emotionally and intellectually inferior to men and that is why they should concentrate on raising children and not seek leadership roles?

Do you think women shouldn’t have the vote?

As I’ve said views and attitudes change

LOL celebrated in a society where the men are the leaders and the women raise the children?

    – raising children

    – been leaders

    – Men need women to look after the children so that they have the time to lead presumably?

    Why is it hateful?

    Why is it divisive?

    What is ‘collectivist’ about it?

As I’ve said this is very similar to the rhetoric used against those women seeking the vote when many men used ‘suffragette’ as a term of abuse just as you seem to be doing with ‘feminist’

    Again you are thinking Either-Or

It’s not a zero sum game it’s not that if women gain men lose.

Thing is what is lost in these renaming’s?

Why does it seem to be such a big deal to some people?

Someone here seems to have implied for example that changing ‘manhole’ to ‘maintenance hole’ in some way ‘marginalises’ men - but why would a man fell marginalised by that?

I wouldn’t know it had even happened and now I do I don’t care, why would I, I kind of feel - so what

So why are some people finding this SO upsetting?

    Where did I do that?

Your links don't really disprove my point of a California as a gigantic economy. They are not struggling as much as Fox wishes they were. More like you need to focus on small parts of an economy which happen when an economy is large.

Kind of shows what a fool you are. This is your serious argument? The plague is back since women can say they feel like men and don't have to raise kids? It exposes a silly way of thinking. You are just full of hate so you truly wish things that don't matter made the hate OK. Everyone would like to think they are right in their opinions.

Doesn't Cali have a lot of bums partly because of the great wealth and the entertainment industry (i realize the latter doesn't cover all of cali ;))? I mean it attracts a lot of people who have big dreams but don't make it

Yes LA is full of waiters and homeless who think they are just one commercial away from being famous. They also have a nice warm climate and holmess in general like to stay where winter is not bad. Your average red state might also get cold and have such a small population there are no serviced for the homeless. California is full of liberals with money who want to help. Oklahoma not so much.

  8. Re-naming things doesn’t make a difference. People are still gonna call it a manhole

I might call it a person hole now just to troll.

It's a portal to the Ninja Turtle's house. That is all that matters.

From what I gather... calling a sewer cover something other than a manhole is attacking masculinity or someshyt. [IMG]

  13. I'm just going to call it what I always have, a port hole.

There are a susbtantial amount of bums in the populated regions of California. There are alot in the Bay Area, by San Francisco and in my region in San Diego. Some of the bums here might have tried to make it in LA but I think it would be hard to attribute that to the bums in the Bay Area.

I assume weather is an appealing aspect, that would definitely apply here, weather is nice and consistent pretty much year round, although it can get fairly cold in San Francisco during winter. Panhandling and getting leftover / tossed out food is probably a lot easier in densley populated areas.

I saw a bum cussing out a seagull that was on top of a 7-11 convenience store today.

  16. A guy I work with is riding his bike to California to live as a hermit in a teepee in the woods. He'll do it, too, he's that kind of guy. He's like a cat man. He reminds me completely of that avi rolling's got.

This one time it was raining; really pouring down buckets! and I saw as I was driving a streethole cover bobbing off the street! It was literally overflowing the sewer.

A bit off topic I realize, but it still has to do with streethole covers.

  19. "Streethole"? lol
