On 23rd April, thousands of people are expected to attend a Full Moon Party on the island of Koh Phangan, Thailand. April is a busy time for the world famous Full Moon events in Thailand and this year organisers of the 'Once in a Full Moon' event hope to safely secure its future by modernising the whole party and ensuring that over 25% of the income raised returns to Koh Phangan in order to provide new sound-systems, amazing light shows and new facilities. Part of this revenue will also be used to vastly improve the security and first aid services available, while the April event will also be used to collect funds for the tsunami relief effort supported by Save the Children.
Officially established in the late 1980's, the Full Moon Party continues to expand, along with the general dance music scene in South East Asia, and as such is now marketed globally. This year, the music festival will provide clubbers with access to some five arenas, together with numerous dance acts - all at one of the best (monthly) outdoor venues around! A mammoth event, the Main Stage arena holds around 9,000 people, while the four other areas each have a capacity of 4,000!
Needless to say, the wider (west coast) region is crying out for regeneration, and income from tourism can help, so why not book yourself a spot?
