1. The Hipforums announces it first ever fundraiser. After nearly 30 years online, we must ask our members and guests to help support the website. Thanks to years of ongoing financial support of our members, advertisers and volunteer admin staff, we have been able to keep the forums alive.

Now we must ask for help as available funds have all been used for our Internet server and other fees.

So please donate any amount to our PayPal account donate@Hipforum.com to keep the site going. If we can get enough for a few months fees, we won't need to nag you again!

I like hiking and a hike I loved and have done twice is the Robert Louis Stevenson trail in the cevennes in France. It's the most remote area of France and follows a route taken by Robert Louis Stevenson in his book 'travels with a donkey in the cevennes'.

For me? The current Yankee Stadium 3 times. One of those visits was a 2011 playoff game. I dream of attending a Miami Dolphins game in person. I almost did so in 2009. Ended up seeing Dallas @ Tampa in week 1. Stiffling humidity aside, Dallas won the game. I've been to the Baseball Hall Of Fame twice. Both trips to Cooperstown, NY were with my older brother.

I would love to visit Seattle or Portland, Oregon at some point in my life. I've never been west of Bedford Park, IL however.

John Denver said it was almost heaven, and he wasn't exaggerating.

For cool in the literal sense, nothing beats the west coast of Ireland. Not so much the temperature, but the high winds off the Atlantic blowing over our soggy clothing.
Perhaps the funniest moment for me, was arriving to stay at Jane's grandparents cottage and going up to the bedroom they had got ready for us, only to find plastic sheets and raincoats covering the bed over about 6 blankets. The fact that Jane just accepted it as normal and commented "those holes in the roof are getting worse" was so funny.
The cottage also had no running water, gas, electricity, sewage connection, radio or television signal.
Coming from London, it seemed surreal to live in such a primitive way that would have shocked people in Alaska, but boiling water from the well on a wood burning range for our morning tea, along with looking for a couple of eggs in the chicken shed was quite an experience.

Mount Mera Peak, Nepal. I'm third from the left, Mt Everest is just behind the guy with the blue beanie on his head.
