I heard about this movie a couple of times, but it never caught my atention, Im kinda like that, when people tell me.. ohh check this out, I don't usually listen.. but to the point, today they were showing it on tv, and I watched it. Equilibrium is an amazing movie, its weird how nobody has heard of it, or seen it, it completely blew my mind and Christian Bale's acting got two thumbs up. Even my mom watched it, and she doesn't like this kind of movies (not the kinds that make you think, but the ones that are full of action, sci-fi.. and stuff). There wasn't one minute trough it that I felt bored, or that I tought.. ok so where is this leading us. Every part of it, is intense, makes you wonder, makes you want to know.. you feel like you are inside the movie.. So has anyone seen it?
Oh yes, it is one of the best action movies of all time. What I like about it is the fact they mix matrix-esq gun kata, all the while the movie seems more of a social commentary on oppressive regimes and so on. It is defiently wierd that no one saw it, I doubt it was even in theaters. But its by far better than any matrix ive seen.
That's exactly what I tought.. that is a lot better than matrix, even tough is on the same line.. and I couldn't help but wonder why it wasn't shown in theaters
I didn't like it. I thought the Matrix was a lot better. Equilibrium was just a little too weird for me.
I hear you Duck. But what made is so interesting, was the fact it was the great things about the matrix, and the great things about 1984/THX as well. The movie was very big budget im sure, and had Christian Bale and Taye Diggs in it. i cant understand how they expected to make any money at all from it.
This seems like this is probaly a good place to say this: I don't understand why everyone loved the original Matrix but, just because they didn't understand them completely the first and second time through they hated the sequels. I've seen both the sequels twice and I must admit I don't understand them completely but, I am really close to it and I think that the figuring it out factor actaully makes the movies more interesting.
I agree.. for me, movies are always better when I need to stop and think what is the message that is trying to deliver, I like it when you need to use your brain a little bit, instead of just watch it.
Equilibriam is a quality flick, I really enjoyed it, it wasn't quiet as good as the original Matrix, but very good all the same.
I own a copy of equilibrium and watched it twice, when i bought it..once with commentary on, once with with off (the commentary is funny).. It is very good indeed .. i liked it because it holds its own and the many 'martix' '1984' comparisons just don't do it any favours.. it is a little bit naff, i must say..Forgeting it is trying to be deep and meaningful..it is great ... especialy the fight scene near the end after christian takes the person that was in 'go' face off. It is amazing how many people like the film..just typing in 'gun kata' proves how much people like it.. http://www.freewebs.com/equilibrium-movie/
You i think need too be flogged ..or put in stocks and have rotting food hurled at you.. 'nothing special' gee whiz i realise its not citizen kane or 2001 a space odyssey.. (universaly praised but shit imho..just a example though). Cut the film a little slack.
