Ok, I now find myself curoius about lsd. I'd really love to take some, and will only do so once I have all the necesary safety nets in place. My question is about this age thing with lsd... I'm 16, so would lsd have a negative effect on my developing brain? Is my brain still developing? Also, if lsd is too dangerous for me at this point, would shrooms be okay? As far as past drug experience, I smoke pot about twice a week, never done anything harder. Touched alcohol and cigs both once, hated both, and never touched them again.
The negative effects lie in LSD's psychological power; how it affects you as a developing person depends solely on how you perceive the experience. Shrooms are a good starting point, as they are much easier to control than acid. If you come across a situation where you'll be interacting with an authority figure, you can sort of "tone" the trip down, whereas with acid you can't really stop tripping...you just have to act straight and hope it works out for the best.
if you do a lot of research (and i dont mean anything put out by the govt or anything related to an anti-drug organization.. but look at like testing done in the 50s and 60s by independant groups) and you get yourself into a proper mindset.. you'll be fine.. i'm pretty sure at millbrook during the 60s, they were giving lsd sessions to really young kids that lived there. I remember reading somewhere that they were as young as 8yrs old... but then again thats under the guidance of timothy leary and crew.. so anyone could probably have a glorious experience with them...
imho... shrooms & lsd have similar potential... lsd seems to last for ~12 hours, while shrooms more like 5 hours... as for the "developing brain" thing --- yeah, human brains are undergoing developmental changes until about age 25 or so... & social changes happening thick & heavy as well --- puberty, getting a driver's license, jr high --> high school --> college/work/whatever, getting laid, moving from home, etcetcetc... & then family & kids & parenting & housepayments & taxes & c... dr albert hofmann (invented LSD) once said that psychedelics are best utilized by folks whose lifes AREN'T a blur of change, who have enough life experience to be reasonably stable, have worked out who they are & where they're going & what comes next... folks who may even be in a bit of a psychic rut, so to speak - middle-aged & even older folks, eh? 40-, 50-, 60-something or older... the guy who invented petroleum jelly ate a huge spoon of it every day. i guess he lived till like 96 or something though lol... but we all know that this is a bit of an extreem perspective. im sure the same basic idea applies to hoffman's theories.
