My brother bought a used 2009 Lexus crossover that has a built in GPS. In order to update the maps to what they are laid out in 2019, he'd have to take it to the Lexus dealership and pay $200 for it.

Why bother when your smartphone GPS updates it for free?

 

Because it's illegal to use your phone device while driving, that's why.

We had a TomTom for our last big euro trip / drive. Came in very handy for us.

 

You listen to all that quality FM Radio while driving?

 

I mean...if you have bluetooth you can just set your GPS on your phone before you ever put the car in drive and then it just tells you where to turn through your car speakers. I"m not sure why you would have to look at your phone or why it would work any differently or be more of a distraction than a stand alone GPS system

I'm pretty abrupt when it comes to these things because where I live in tourism area, we hear and see a lot of accidents by people racing around Alps, drinking and driving, on phones and like, if they kill themselves that's one thing, but time and time again a family gets wiped out, or a local person dead due to someone else's stupid activities and we see and hear this a lot where I live. It's just so unfair and so sad.

Young girl, 19, killed by head on from someone fucking around on the road. Just minding her business now dead. A family left behind and for what?

Really gets to me.

 

People who test while driving are idiots though.

 

Yeah. My phone connects to my truck so it can read and write messages. I've never written a message through voice but I can listen to them. I also Bluetooth my music and my steering wheel has something like... 20-22 buttons on it, so I can control anything and everything with my hands on the wheel.

 

No for using your phone whilst driving

 

Tournment is interesting I get my grouping later today. Seems to 10/11 players each group, single round, round Robin, Play each person once, top 5 go through... I'll give that a go. every shot is going to matter, I'll have to keep that in mind.
