Im thinking this is the right forum, but anyways. alright. so last night i saw my first show, and yea...ive never been more happy in my entire life. It was so amazing. ive been to alot of concerts, but all of them have been just old musicians and in no way a jam band. But yea my friend stevie told me about how Dark Star was coming into town and i was immedietly there. i had to go. so the time came around to it and i found my self off to the left of center stage enjoying what i could only describe as pure euphoria. and one thing that ive ALWAYS had a problem with was dancing. i have never been able to dance anywhere outside of my room with no one in it. EVER. and i thought that id go into this thing and just u know nod my head and enjoy it all in my head....ha! that was nearly impossible. the music starts and suddenly the crowd comes alive. everyones dancing and just enjoying the music and getting lost into it, and i suddenly realize...everyones dancing and no one cares what they look like, why would they care what i look like. and it was like a huge family you know. so i felt really comfurtable just easing up and letting go of my insecurities and just letting my love out into the open. so i started getting down! hahah i started out slow but into the middle of the set i was heavily into my own lil world and dancing away. its been the first time ive EVER danced infront of ANYONE. it was SO MUCH FUN!!! im still so excited about it. The second it was over i wanted more. im pretty sure im going to go up to austin with them this weekend because im so inlove. It was the best experience of my life and im so happy that i was able to let go because i had the best time of my entire life.. i love the grateful dead!!
ah, a first jamband show. You'll never forget it! Doesn't it feel good to dance and not care about ANYTHING? No worries about dancing "hip" or if you look dumb or uncoordinated. Hope you check out some other shows! Maybe I'll see ya there!
Hell yeah DSO!!!! but my first was Widespread Panic. AND the tour is back on this year so hells ass yeah!!!!! Beat those skins Sonny!!!!!! but the freedom of just dancing. Nobody even cared that i was a 3 hundred pound black guy, all that mattered is that we were sharing this amazing moment of music. Damn I would go back to that summer on the lawn if I could.
glad you had fun, bro. and you're right, no one cares what you look like when you dance! just be yourself and let the music flow through you. i love it when everyone is dancing because i know the joyous freedom they are experiencing, no matter how they dance. "work like you dont need the money, love like you'll never get hurt, DANCE like nobody is watching!" you're hooked, i can tell take it easy humandraydel
well as of....the second the show was over i want to go to austin this weekend and see them again. ill take the 3 hour drive to see them. maybe even stay there for friday and saterday. ah man i just had the best time. my ears are still ringing but god...it was so...beautiful. i was so high in the music. i never want to have that feeling stop. i am hooked. hahaha. yea but other than austin this weekend, are they touring anytime soon?
I've got a lifetime invitation to hang with the DSO backstage if I ever go see them, hopefully first time will be this summer... They came around here last summer, and I called asking for tickets, and ended up talking with their manager... we still talk every now and then, but they won't be around here until late July but I'm hoping I can see them earlier than that somewhere else.
uh oh...that travel 200+ miles to the next gig... You are hooked! Keep seeing jambands--it actually gets better!
I need to get out to one... well, I have seen the jam MAN a few times... never seen a band, though. Nothing like K-Dub.
Keller would be an unknown road rat without SCI/ Madison House management... get out and see the WHOLE tradition. Dark Star, lots of bands go through texas, esp before NOLA Jazzfest (its on the way...and in the way... ) Some fantastic fests pop up. I was a huge fan of Kerrville Folk and Old Settler's. check Events and Festivals.
