Yeah they're independent but from what i can tell, the news programs are usually played at the same time. At least, the two NPR stations here play the news at the same time, they're always synched up.

The radio here is horrible. Usually do the XM thing in the car, which is tolerable

Then you'll be happy to know that 10% of the static is cosmic background radiation from the big bang

in that case, i mostly listen to the creation of the universe.

sounds better, but in practice is no less annoying.

Jim Norton and Sam Roberts who are leftovers from the once brilliant radio shock-jocks Opie & Anthony Show

hearts of space, thistle and shamroc, celtic cadence, and eclectic world beat on non-commercial volunteer stations like kvmr, and public npr,
are what i listened to when i did. before that, when fm was still relatively new in the early 70s there were kind of 'counter culture' rock stations,
like kzap, and that one i forget, that had dr demento. although i think even his home station was more corporate then i realized at the time.

(just remembered: jim carlson's living room in salt lake, that played whole album sides,
and right here in reno, the sound that made you glad you have two ears, i forget the call letters, where travis-t-hip got his start.)

this is all going back decades though. i know npr still exists and once in a while i pick up kvmr's broadcast on the net. but a real radio, nope, haven't had one for years.

i guess that depends on what kind of dragons we're supposed to imagine.
the only ones i know are all fluffy and fuzzy.

most of the musicians i know are foxes, coyotes, wolves, or very oddly pelted creatures of more fazmagorical sorts.
