drove my car to my mechanic, was having some issues with the brakes. drove barefoot, came back home, via bus, barefoot. had to take 2 bus's use the bathroom at the bus depot, very dirty floors. dont think all the grease, dirt oil, will ever come off. no one said a thing about me being barefoot. alot of stares but no one said anything, and i was wearing shorts.
Sorry to hear about your brake troubles, but driving barefoot is great isn't it? I drive barefoot almost always during the warmer months. Peace.
Ouch, sorry about the car trouble April... cars can be a pain in the butt. I don't know if I'd dare get my feet THAT dirty... my soles are strong but sensitive and I find stepping in machine oil icky...
i go to carnivals barefoot, the movie theatre, the zoo, so going to my mechanic and taking the bus, was really no big deal.
I have a 2002 Subaru Impreza wagon that I have never, ever driven with shoes on. At this point, it's a pride-thing; I always drive barefoot, and to change now would be unpleasant to me, like giving up. (Apart from that, it is far more pleasant to drive barefoot than to drive wearing shoes.) -Jeffrey
I totally agree with Alex's answer "Why not?" But I just want to add that I don't think anyone normally would walk barefoot in oil and grease on purpose if there was a way to step around it. Just the same if you were wearing shoes. But I feel if you choose to be barefoot - maybe I should say, if you choose to be a barefooter, you just accept that some places you walk are dirtier than other places. You just do it and don't even think about it. If it's a surface where most people would walk with shoes on, there's no reason not to walk there barefoot (except of course where there is an unquestionable hazard to bare feet, such as extremely hot pavement, acid, etc.). Speaking for myself, I don't pick and choose which surfaces I will walk barefoot on and which I won't. I just go barefoot everywhere. Dirty feet never hurt anybody, and they can always be cleaned.
hot pavement doenst bother me any more, hasnt for a long long time, growing up in florida, being barefoot the entire summer. your skin gets protected.
me too. i can walk a mile to my house through puddles and rocks in the summer, but in spring i can barely walk around school without being all sore and poked at.
