would it be a fashion faux pas if i rocked some killer hammer pants to a night club? because i found these pink and neon green ones at the thrift store, and all i gotta say is..."Damn!!"
Werent they called jam pants or something? Hey go for it... You can probably be gareneted no one will be dressed like you
They were called parachute pants, and I say go for it. ...and while we are on the topic, have you seen that j.lo video? I don't know what the song is but she was trying to bring the parachute pants back. She will forever be damned now.
i remember wearing these pants in a rural high school just before MC hammer made them popular. only the freaky-haired artsy kids wore them then. i'd first seen them at summer art school, and knew i had to have a pair (or 5) and so i found a pattern & started sewing them as soon as i got home. the pattern just called them dropped-crotch pants, because the crotch was lowered. i remember i made a pair for some 4-H sewing event. my 4-H leader was one of my best friends mothers, and she nearly cried when she saw them. she whispered to my friend, "she can't show those, the crotch is around the knees!" and my friend very patiently explained, "i think they're supposed to be that way, mom." god i loved them! i made several pairs in colors ranging from basic artsy black to bright orange. i stopped wearing them when i noticed they were trendy, which, at the rate i pick up on things, was just as they were going out of style.
I had a two pairs of these when I was 9. One was leopard print and it was way cool and the other was black with orange edging. I was so damn hip.
thanks for the moral support everyone...i'm definitely going to rock these ever so hip hammer pants. cheers!
