I was watching mtv2 a couple days ago, to maybe try and find out why so much crap bands have so many fans... it was some rap show, and out of the 6 videos I watched, 4 had to do with being big and bad and gangsta, and the other 2 were about women.... For people who listen to this stuff, doesn't it get old ever?
Its very old, and tired! Hopefully it's just another phase rap music has gone through, and will change to something else. Hopefully, it will go back to the more political/social issues it used to be. Underground is where it is.
i was completely shocked when i heard the snoop song "drop it like its hott" wtf?? now i am a snoop fan. i just dig him for some reason! and YES some of his stuff is commericial but this song takes the cake. what the hell was he thinking?
I have never heard a good hip hop song, I have heard that the lyrics are supposed to great and poetic, well I have only heard childish ones. Whenever I have seen them speak they come across as morons who can barely string a sentence together. Of course there is little I have heard other than the people mentioned on here and what is on the radio, which seems to be idiots with guns etc
It does seem like hip hop is in a major rut. Especialy with the o"hhh I like that, work that back" type shit. Too bad there isn't a modern version of Tribe Called Quest getting popular.....or a new dr. dre record would be alright. I thought you were talking about the censoring on radio.....they have to cover up half of the words being said.
I don't like hip hop at all, whether it's the lyrics, the image, or the music. So I don't think I'd like underground hip hop much better than the terribly unenjoyable songs they show on television. But some better lyrics than the usual megalomanic crap would be appreciated indeed.
I had to listen to hip hop yesterday in my friends car. Ick. It's GOT to get old soon. I hope the next big craze is something a little more tolerable. Doesn't it seem like no matter what you do, you can't get away from this crappy music?
everybody is entitled to their's....but i think most of us can agree radio sucks..except for classic stations which play the best of the past
it's all about understanding the demographic behind the genre. the people that go out and buy the music, which actually happens to be mainly white kids between the ages of 13 and 17. people that have no sense in real music, that will also go out and buy the next britney spears and good charlotte albums. the people that buy the crap music won't go away, so don't expect people to stop listening to it anytime soon.
well it is snoop rapping, but I think the credit really goes to Pharrell.. all the beats and stuff is his.
I would also like to say that all hip hop/ pop mix stations should burn in hell. Everywhere I work, people listen to the same ole tired hip hop stations. they have a constant rotation of the same old songs....... first you get some nelly, and you get some snoop, and then you get some biggie, and then you get some 50 cent, and then a bunch of eminem....... and you hear the same songs played over and over within a 2 hour period...... and the thing is people, when they hear it, go "oh this is my jam right here" and they turn it up..... then the song plays again in an hour and they say the same thing, and turn it up again.
This is true, but the classic stations miss a hell of a lot out too. Smokey Robinson, Aretha Franklin and Buddy Holly etc have more than two good songs each yet we never hear them. Todays radio is a disgrace, it ignores the fact that most music fans exist. Recently Morrissey had a couple of singles in the Top 5 and not once did those songs get played on the mainstream radio station in this country. It is aimed at morons because morons are easy to please.
