If you want them to spend it on others, tip them before Christmas.

If you want them to spend it on themselves tip them between Christmas and New Year's.

Seems so.. I do my own thing, if they are nice to me.. which isn't always the case if the waiters are male.. then I tip.

  5. Really?
I often find male waiters nicer and more professional. Just....a better attitude.
That is just my experience, of course.

But yeah, tipping isn't really a thing here.

where do you find these people? it's basically impossible to find someone who actually puts effort into their job around here. even tipped employees, i sometimes seriously think about not tipping, since they all seem to have to seriously think about whether or not they're going to bother actually doing whatever their job is.

i've never seen my garbagemen either. i do hear them a couple times a week, slamming the dumpster as hard as they can at the crack of dawn.

i am aware that their garbage truck is probably not capable of setting the dumpster down quietly. this is more of a complaint about the system; it should be illegal to send out loud-ass garbage trucks into residential areas at 6am.

no services people, no problem. i do everything myself. what i can't do myself, usually doesn't get done.
unless it can be fixed by buying an artifact rather then a service. and when i have the good fortune to be able to.

I'm a hairstylist. My clients that tip extra for Christmas usually do so at their appointment closest to Christmas. Some will add it to their normal tip. Others give me cash in a card. It's all appreciated but never expected. I have a few clients that go way above and beyond what they should do. To the point I feel bad accepting it.

I wouldn't worry about the timing of it but just the fact that you do it would be greatly appreciated, as a window cleaner I have found the level of Christmas tipping drop massively over the last few years and it makes it really tough over the Christmas period. Being self employed I rely on the cash tips in December to give myself time off during Christmas, so any tip is greatly received and not taken lightly, it seems the younger generation of homeowners don't tip like the older customers do. Whether it's a cash flow issue or just a lack of knowledge regarding the tradition of tipping I don't know. But if you regularly use any kind of trade or service please remember their hard work and show your appreciation with a tip

    Merry Christmas everyone xxx
