A big problem with immigrating is it can get expensive, sometimes costing thousands of dollars before you become a full-fledged citizen. When you've left your home behind and are carrying everything you own it can be out of reach.

Lend Lease helped to win the war against Fascism. Without British and United States aid Russia, France, Italy, China, and many other countries would today be in Nazi or totalitarian hands.

The dispute remained unresolved until 1972, when the U.S. accepted an offer from the USSR to repay $722M linked to grain shipments from the U.S., with the remainder being written off. During the war the USSR provided an unknown number of shipments of rare minerals to the US Treasury as a form of cashless repayment of Lend-Lease. This gold was salvaged in 1981 and 1986.[73] In June 1942, SS Port Nicholson was sunk en route from Halifax, Nova Scotia to New York, allegedly with Soviet platinum, gold, and industrial diamonds aboard; the wreck was discovered in 2008.[74] However, none of this cargo has been salvaged, and no documentation of its treasures has been produced.

No, I have not said nor implied any such thing. The US has been loathed globally for a very long time. Not by "ALL" nations and peoples of course, but enough to be obvious. I wouldn't doubt we still have residue going back to the formation of the US.

Sorry I wrote that badly. I meant in my opinion, it's your opinion that everyone we bailed out back then looks down their nose at us to this day. Not necessarily a fact.

Yea, I can see that it isn't ALL of them. But it's not a small handful either. Granted, the media inflates most of the negatives and downplays some of the positives. But it does drive public opinion in a big way, like it or not. But this is nothing new. Complaints about "ugly Americans" go back decades. I guess it makes some people feel better to bag on somebody. America is the perfect patsy since we're a conglomeration of nearly all of the nations peoples.

According to CBS a small number attempted to storm the fence but hundreds were gassed.

Hundreds of migrants approaching the U.S. border from Mexico were enveloped with tear gas Sunday after several tried to make it past fencing and wire separating the two countries.

No... But seriously there's always talking people down that tends to work most of the time. Knee jerk firing of rubber bullets is just as bad as water canon. Rubber bullets is probably worse, given the often time they break skin and embed themselves into you.
