I researched the places mentioned in this song a long time ago, it's where I also learned that Camels were tobacco.
Actually, I can thank Chris Knight for a lot about my knowledge of the Southern States of the US. I have researched every town and place he's ever mentioned, from the mines to small places like Danville. He paints such a picture in his lyrical work, I love reading up on the history.

When we were at Martinsville, I really wanted to go to Danville as it was nearby, but we never. In fact it was that woman Karen J advised me not to because they don't like outsiders. Well I'd have busted out some Chris Knight singing, I'm sure I'd have fit in.

 

I was too lazy to submit my information. I probably would have only gotten a few bucks anyway. But it was some what amusing.

And in more exciting NASCAR news nobody cares about, Chad Knaus is moving to the #24 team of William Byron! This is huge. Chad was Jimmie Johnson's crew chief through his 13+ NASCAR career winning an immortal 7 championships including 5 in a row. I'm not sure of the exact reason yet, but the #48 car has struggled this year and I believe the two have tensions. So Chad is now moving to the #24 car which is huuuuge for young 19yo William Byron.
