    Not sure if I'm doing this right. I don't know if it makes the movie exactly, but it definitely makes the character of Quint. In the book, he just killed sharks for money and the hell of it. Bor-ring! The movie gave him a solid motivation for, not only his hatred of sharks, but for his insanity. He was no longer an Ahab clone, but, rather, became Ahablike in which the quest to kill the monster was really the metaphoric catharsis of exorcising one's personal demons.

    All I kept thinking when I watching Avatar about was how close the connection was between the 'modernisation of America - at the expense of the Native population.
