i generally don't post about anything serious. that's kind of the opposite of why i come here.

and there's that. i'm burnt out on that shit already, and i hardly even get on facebook.

i don't know the story, but doesn't first degree mean that it was pre-planned? this sounds like second degree at best.

sure you missed the 50+gang members arrested thru the Pittsburghs west end on the very same day.

Personally while I don't like to see anyone killed the problem in society is not dead cops but who the cops kill. An electrician is more likely to be killed on the job than a cop as is a firemen. Cops love to act like it's so tough for them but it's not. The kind of action you see in a movie or TV will happen one maybe two times in the average cop's entire career. They also have tends of thousands of dollars of bullet prof vests and other equipment protecting them. It's actuly a very safe job with the small risk of it getting very unsafe.

So while it's sad and noteworthy to see a cop die it's not the same thing as the young black man shot more often. It's just not on my mind in the same way.

Err, average cops don't wear vests man. One squad car with two officers is not housed with tens of thousands of dollars worth of protective equipment. I think you're the one that might watch and take too much from TV shows and movies sometimes.

Don't need to spend a second to know the facts. Odds are you come home from the shift and only need to draw a gun a few times in 30 years. Most Americans are not that dangerous and the ones that are run before they attack cops unless the cops corner them and then maybe there is a risk of death for someone.

So in your own words, the odds are, that police officers don't actually draw their weapon more than a few times in 30 years, diminishing the argument that they actively shoot black people for the sake of shooting black people.

Phew, sometimes it just takes time for people to nut all over their own arguments.

Not really who is to say when these few times are. It's likely to be when they are in a stressful situation and black people make them stressed. Stay in your lane Fraulein not your country to team sport on.

Examine the shootings and see how many times offers draw a gun before this. Even though someone is now dead it was zero or a few times before often.

My dad was a cop. He is appalled at all the recent shooting of black people by cops. He was trained that shooting to kill is the absolute LAST resort, and used only when an officer's life is threatened.

German term for a female. Maybe I mispelled it I was trying to be witty with our European posters.

A lot of life is your perception I suppose. Who is really ever "right"? Teams will be picked and stuck to.

The magic phrase to free any officer of any wrong doing. They "fear for their life" and nothing else applies it has been established in court. We give them the right to make judgement calls and allow their feelings to cloud that. No proof of the danger needs to be shown but the officers feeling that it was. That is why they went to the academy. They know we do not. Imagine that in any other case. "Well your honor we have no DNA but we just feel this guy murdered him". A bit silly no?
