What you wearing to keep the cold out?

Discussion in 'Random Thoughts' started by Deleted member 157313, Jan 16, 2018.

  1. I just realised how many clothes I have taken to wearing:
    Knickers
    Vest
    thermal long underwear
    thick hand knitted socks
    t-shirt
    long hand knitted hoodie
    scarf
    long skirt

    and that is just indoors!

    anybody beat that?

My body runs hot, so usually just a normal outfit with a zip up sweatshirt or hoody, my winter jacket for outside, and boots if there's a bunch of snow. Sometimes a hat.

Lately I've been thinking about buying gloves, -15 starts to get to the fingers after a bit.

I run hot while sleeping and the first hour or so that I'm up in the mornings.

I'm cold now because I've only got on shorts, a tank top, and flip flops.

    I'm going to dress, soon.

I find the less you wear the more bodyheat you feel.
So right now I'm in camo sweat pants and that's it. But under a heat vent outlet on the roof :p and I'm sweaty. Sweaty bum crack.

My house is sort of drafty which is fine most of the time but if the temps dip into the 20s or lower (F) I have to sleep in a sweatshirt and socks

And for below freezing temps outside I just layer leggings under pants, a sweater over a long sleeved shirt, a jacket, gloves, a scarf, and boots and I'm good to go

I never really knew how to properly dress for winter, I used to spend winters wearing slip on shoes with no socks with like a duster sweater but no jacket and then I wondered why I was freezing

But I was in NY a few years ago during a snowstorm and had to stock up on winter wear and now I'm always ready to brave the elements one layer at a time. For all 10 days a year we get below freezing weather

my apartment stays warm as hell for some reason. i assume my neighbors keep their heat too high or something. i have my thermostat set to 52, and the temperature in here is actually 75.

when the heavy coat alone, just won't do, heavy undershirt, (the kind of heavy 't' some people wear as their main shirt), regular shirt (gotta have at least one shirt pocket, no matter what), sheepie (a synthetic fleece cut to fit under a leather midivil vest), that leather bit, totally cuts out any wind chill, and the regular coat over that. sheepie and vest are sleeveless so there's no other restriction of movement then the heavy lined hooded coat. this is what i use where i am now. pants are just my regular. its not my but or my legs that get chilled, just my back.

full suit, spring suit, thickness, etc?

mine is sleeveless "farmer john" style. i forget the thickness, but it's pretty thin. i got it for teaching kayak and SUP classes in the spring when the water's cold. but then i got into scuba, so i really need a new one, full body version for that.
