What about those who don't want to be Islam? That religion does not treat women well, but Obama comes from that background. Think about that... Frankly I don't care who here is religious, or who isn't. All I know is, it's nice to not feel outcast for my beliefs just because snowflakes want me to be an Athiest, or Agnostic, just because "It's our right". You want women to be treated badly? That is your business. You don't want to be connected to religion? Fine. Get over those who believe, they are not pushing it on you. But Obama was sure glad to take it from us. That is not his, nor your right. You live your life, I'll live mine. Basic Libertarianism. Speaking of the Dark ages, Islam will take you women back there real quick. Just ask those two teen girls who defected to the Middle East, and got more than they bargained for. I'm sure they were just feeling rebellious, but there's a price to pay for your loss of freedom. And cutting off elephant's trunks? Never seen a Christian do that. Sounds like a "cult" thing to me...Some here must run with a strange crowd.
I agree the present Republican party isn't totally racist, but certain members sure are. . I looked up Christian values as I haven't been to church for awhile and they seem to have changed. Let's look at the leader of the Republican party in that regard, shall we? I mean since you brought him up. New Testament teaching Love of God: well it seems there are a variety of different definitions of God. “I think I am actually humble. I think I’m much more humble than you would understand.” Fidelity in marriage: Two divorces, first one ended due to infidelity on Don's part. Admitted womanizer and sexual predator, admitted to trying to seduce married women while his third wife was pregnant, accused of rape by one of his wives, accused of raping and threatening to kill a 14 year old girl, accused of sexual misconduct by...at least 19 different women. “You know, it really doesn’t matter what the media write as long as you’ve got a young, and beautiful, piece of ass.” “You know, I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything….Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.” Renunciation of worldly goods: Ha, that's a good one. Trump claims to be worth $4.5 Billion, with a B. “The point is, you can never be too greedy.” Renunciation of violence: "I'll beat the crap out of you," Chicago. “You know, part of the problem and part of the reason it takes so long is nobody wants to hurt each other anymore, right?", St. Louis. "The audience hit back and that's what we need a little bit more of." (After a supporter sucker punched a man), Fayetteville. "In the good old days this doesn't happen because they used to treat them very, very rough.", Fayetteville. "Try not to hurt him. If you do, I'll defend you in court, don't worry about it.", Michigan. "I'd like to punch him in the face." "we're not allowed to punch back anymore" in the "old days," he'd "be carried out on a stretcher.", Las Vegas. "Knock the crap out of them.", Cedar Rapids. "Maybe he should have been roughed up.", Birmingham. "I don’t know if I’ll do the fighting myself or if other people will.", Seattle Forgiveness of sins: BRING BACK THE DEATH PENALTY. (A full page ad targeting five innocent black men) "My only complaint is that lethal injection is too comfortable a way to go." “I happen to feel that it does work,” (In regards to torture). “we should go much stronger than waterboarding.” "I am not sure I have," Trump said when asked if he'd ever asked God for forgiveness. Unconditional love: “Meryl Streep, ..... is a Hillary flunky. “I will build a great wall" "I’d fire Rosie O’Donnell. I mean, I’d look at her right in that fat, ugly face of hers," "Good people don’t go into government.” “You’re disgusting.” (To a lawyer asking for a medical break to pump breast milk for her three-month-old daughter.) "....low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe..." Now magickman, how can I take you seriously when you post stuff like Trump is bringing back Christian values and then tell us about a cartoon of JC standing in front of Trump's desk? And I take it Trump is behind the desk and JC out front? You do know the man behind the desk is in a higher position of authority than the one out front? Have you ever listened to the man talk? I do agree that Obama's presidency brought a lot of cockroaches out of the woodwork.
As we get closer to entering the second to last year of the second decade of the 21st Century--a time that still sees discrimination against homosexuals and the systematic killing of black men by our police--on behalf of the Trump Administration, I'd just like to say Happy New Year all!! May your 1954 be as joyous as 1953 was!
This post demonstrates profound confusion on so many levels it's hard to know where to begin. It is virtually incoherent. "What about those who want to become Islam?" First of all, adherents to Islam are called Muslims, not "Islam". Second, Obama does not "come from that background", unless you're referring to his father. Obama, contrary to Birther mythology, was born in the USA, raised Christian, and professes to be Christian. Third, Obama did nothing to take religion or Christianity away from anybody. Fourth, what does your rant about Obama and Muslims have to do with the post you're responding to? I agree that any connection between Christianity and elephant's tusks is tenuous. That would be assuming that people supporting the rollback of the Endangered EditSpecies Act are really Christians, which I, as a Christian, find hard to believe. Trump and his programs--the corruption, the ostentatious materialism, the nepotism, favoring the rich at the expense of the poor, cultivating hatred and division to advance his political agenda, pussy grabbing and bragging about it--is the very antithesis of Christian, even though he claims to be a Presbyterian and to "eat the cracker, and drink a little wine." Really, you should get a grip. You're out of touch with reality.
The 401(k) has become the latest mantra of Trump that tries to capitalize on the stock market aspect of the recovery he inherited from Obama. The lower income people are the least likely to have one. They are the left-behind who Trump appealed to in his campaign. Trump Asks ‘How’s Your 401(k)?’ But Most Voters Don’t Have One By Toluse Olorunnipa December 19, 2017, 4:00 AM EST Trump Asks ‘How’s Your 401(k)?’ But Most Voters Don’t Have One excerpt: "Trump has tested out the line this month at a fundraiser, a campaign rally and in a White House meeting, predicting that the rising U.S. stock market will help him win re-election. But only about 45 percent of private-sector workers participate in any employer-sponsored retirement plan, and the lower-income workers in Trump’s political base are the least likely to hold money in such an account, according to the Government Accountability Office. “As a political slogan, ‘how is your 401(k) doing?’ suggests he’s most interested in the one-third of people who have a 401(k),” said Goolsbee, who teaches economics at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. “The more you highlight how great that group of financial winners is doing, you at least run the risk of angering and irritating the very people who revolted against what they perceived as the financial and political elites in the first place.”"
America’s Inequality Machine Is Sending the Dow Soaring By Craig Torres and Jordan Yadoo December 15, 2017 America’s Inequality Machine Is Sending the Dow Soaring From the article: "A rising tide does lift all boats -- but nowadays, in the U.S., not equally. Under both parties, recoveries have become increasingly lopsided. The current one has helped millions of people find work; it’s also benefited asset-owners far more than people who trade their labor for a paycheck. Income distribution, already the most unequal in the developed world, is getting worse. And that’s starting to influence everything from America’s spending habits to its elections. The story of our time is polarization -- by party, by class and by income,” said Mark Spindel, founder and chief investment officer at Potomac River Capital in Washington, and co-author of a 2017 book about the Federal Reserve. “I don’t see anything in the tax bill to make that any better.’’ The Fed’s post-2008 toolkit included massive purchases of financial assets, which supported a liftoff on the markets but took time to trickle through to the real economy. Trump’s tax critics say his plan will have a similar effect, because companies will spend the windfall on share buybacks or dividends, instead of job-creating investments. Plenty of executives say that’s exactly what they’ll do.
Perhaps Trump needs more photo-ops with Santa Claus and Jesus Christ at his desk asking people how their 401(k) and pussy grabbing are doing. Trump's support among white evangelicals has dropped 17 points since February December 8, 2017 Trump's support among white evangelicals has dropped 17 points since February
I guess you missed the photo of Trump's sons holding a baby elephant's trunk in a hunting photo on a hunting expedition in Africa.......and Tump a few months ago wanted to make it legall for Amercians to go over there and bring back wild life parts, but the people who care were up in arms, so that is all on hold for now.... Cult? Surely...Magickman must mean Trump's cult then.
I can't even respond to this.....gibber gabber.....I do know that the big agenda of the bible belt folks for the Trump presidency is to over turen Row vs Wade.....Take away people's freedom's much with their religion.? Obama did not do that. You do seem obsessed with this thread or the people on this thread, though, for someone who states they don't have time to laugh with friends about people like " us dems." on this thread,though..
i just don't think Trump and his sons are Christians in any meaningful sense of the word. The Evangelicals have made a bad decision to get into bed with them.
Ok, now that I have proven facts that the Democratic party is just as capable of evil as the Republican party is being accused of here, I'm going to add some of my own truth. Do you know why I voted for Donald Trump in the primary as well as the general election? Because he has money. Money talks, BS walks. Obama proved that in the prior election, having received roughly twice the money any presidential candidate had to work with before. His largest contributor? Mr. George Soros. The same man who funded 1.3 million dollars into the Ferguson riots. What a man- purposely paying to cause discord in his own country. Not the kind of ruler we need in our screwed up times. True, prior administrations were partly responsible for that. That's why I didn't vote in several elections in a row. I could have voted for Bugs Bunny, I suppose. He would have more sense. One thing the Obama Presidencies taught the resulting fed-up American people is that it takes MONEY to win an election in the United States. And Trump, in the minds of most Republicans, was going to be that man. And we damn sure weren't interested in Mrs. "Pantsuit Mafia" Queen, Mrs. Clinton. She would have finished the disruption of the United States of America. Taking money from countries who don't even allow a woman to have say in anything. Quoting Ron Paul's book from 2007 (A Manifesto), "Saudi Arabia and China together own 67% of the United States. And that was before Obama took office. Would be interesting to see the numbers now...I have heard that either China, or Russia could cash us in right now and we'd be fucked. Speaking of who I really wanted as President- it was Rand Paul. You know by now that I am a Libertarian. But I also knew Paul could not beat Hillary Clinton. He had his hands full defending himself on tv against Chris Christie (pfft...). Bernie Sanders was already cast aside just after it started. I wanted Ron Paul back in '08 and '12. But I voted for Mutt Romney (lol) because he had a better chance to beat Obummer. I believe that election was won unfairly, but It will never matter. The Pauls would have us a lot closer to legal MJ, for many reasons, too. For many different uses. If Hillary Clinton can run for President with all her issues, then why hold Trump to a higher standard, with his marital issues, etc...the Clintons have their share of marital issues too (mainly Bill...but I'm sure Hillary has no fault in that. Trump's resume certainly is not as fugly as hers, and America was fed the fuck up with what we saw for eight years. I've never wanted eight years of my life to move so quickly in my life. I know not many value my opinion here, however it is my right to voice my opinion. I don't mean it personally, it does however amaze me what things people willfully ignore for, or from the masses... I have my issues with Christianity in America myself, they are from personal events that I have witnessed in church. But I still believe, nobody can take that from me. Not with the way my life has played out. But I'm not condemning anyone here for not being Christian-but rather from people who put me down or antagonize/ judge me for it. It's none of your business. You have the right to be Athiests if you so desire, it does give you more personal power, I suppose. I find value in all religions, pagan and otherwise, to some degree, with the exception of Muslim/Islam. Those people have been causing the Free World trouble in some form as long as I can remember. 9/11? Anybody? The Koran (Eliminate the Infidels...you do know, that's us, folks, because we don't worship Allah). As for those who don't understand why Evangelicals like Trump, it's because Trump will allow Christians to be Christians, and not wanting to convert us to Islam, like Obama. Hell, the guy didn't even want to salute our soldiers as they get off their planes. Some of you feel its silly to complain about ballplayers not standing appropriate for the Anthem. What's it about? Respect, that's what.
Trump says no negotiations on DACA until he gets U.S. taxpayer money for his border wall. Trump said Mexico was going to pay for it. Then he ended DACA to use it as a bargaining chip to try to get U.S. taxpayer money for his wall. Trump should be fighting with Mexico about the funding. Because he claims to be such a great deal maker and an expert at bilateral negotiations with other counties, he should be able to achieve an arrangement with Mexico. He can make this his first bilateral task. Trump to Dems: No DACA deal without the border wall by LOUIS NELSON 12/29/2017 09:36 AM EST Trump to Dems: No DACA deal without the border wall
mman, First, no one is denying your right to post here. Your opinions are just as valid as anyone's. However, when making an argument opinions need to be backed up with facts otherwise they're just opinions. Now, you provide a list of questions titled, "Why do people want to lock her up?". I must say the list is pretty simple and aimed at those who already have a predisposition against Hillary Clinton. Each charge on the list has been exhaustively investigated, sometimes to the tune of millions of dollars, and guess what? Nothing there. As they say, "Where's the beef?". So, you haven't proven anything about the Democratic party by providing a list of accusations that have no merit. You have posted your opinion, which is fine as far as it goes. You voted for Trump because he has money! Is that how you vote? For the person with the most money? Have you no other requirement for the office of the most powerful person in the world? He has money? You're shocked that money is needed to run an election campaign. Really? Are you that naive? China and Saudi Arabia own 67% of the U.S.? Wrong. China owns 19% of the U.S. debt as of October 2017. As of 2016 Saudi Arabia owned 0.87%. Total: 19.87%. Why hold Trump to a higher standard? Apparently the only standard you hold him to is how much money he has. I'm sorry, but I really have trouble reconciling that statement with your profession of Christianity. Same with your statement that Trump will allow Christians to be Christians. You seem to have no problem condemning Islam yet become upset if your own brand of religion is criticized. It seems to me, and this is my opinion, that many of the people you consider to be good Christians, like Donald Trump, are the very antithesis of what good Christians are......but he does have lots of money.
An article that summarizes the bold initiatives that China and India are taking to invest in children and education. For the U.S. to compete in a global economy and create higher paying American jobs, it's going to take more than name-calling of other countries and protectionist rhetoric of a President The Competition that Really Matters Comparing U.S., Chinese, and Indian Investments in the Next-Generation Workforce By Donna Cooper, Adam Hersh, and Ann O'Leary Posted on August 21, 2012, 9:00 am The Competition that Really Matters - Center for American Progress excerpts: "In 2007 China surpassed the United States in the numbers of college graduates focusing on science, math, engineering, and technology fields. Three years later, it became the world’s largest provider of higher education. By 2030, China will have 200 million college graduates—more than the entire U.S. workforce. Chinese national goals are ambitious and inspiring." "The problems in the United States, however, are not due to a lack of understanding of how to improve and focus our school system. The problems are related to the political will to do it. The times of excitement and commitment to change have waned since the first National Education Summit in 1989 hosted by President George H.W. Bush and attended by all the nation’s governors. This groundbreaking presidential summit with governors set in motion a more active federal role in education and numerous joint efforts by governors to boost student outcomes."
Yes, unfortunately we're in the hands of a regime that can't see the need for spending on education, research and development, or anything beyond short-term profit. Republicans are even turning against college educations. Sad. Why Do Republicans Suddenly Hate Colleges So Much? Why Is the GOP Suddenly Turning Against College? Opinion | Ignorance Is Strength In the words of our dear leader, " I love the poorly educated!"
From the first article you posted. Why Do Republicans Suddenly Hate College So Much? David A. Graham Jul 13, 2017 Why Do Republicans Suddenly Hate Colleges So Much? From the article: "In fact, what’s most striking about Trump is that he barely talks about higher education at all. Sure, there were some desultory boasts about his own attendance at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School during the campaign, but Trump never even bothered to produce a higher-education platform (even as Hillary Clinton made a plan for affordable degrees a centerpiece of her stump speech). When he finally did get around to discussing it, in the campaign’s closing days, it was mostly to criticize rising tuition and to promise to bring it down. Trump’s innovation maybe wasn’t to bash college so much as to ignore it. Previous candidates, in both parties, paid at least lip service to the idea of expanding educational opportunities and retraining workers whose jobs were eliminated by changes in the U.S. economy. The first indications that that was changing came in the 2012 GOP primary, when Rick Santorum (B.A., Penn State; M.B.A, Pitt; J.D., Dickinson Law) accused Barack Obama of being a “snob” for trying to expand access to education. Trump didn’t bother to make the case for retraining or education; he simply promised dispossessed blue-collar workers that their jobs in mills, factories, and especially coal mines were going to come back." "Regardless of the degree to which each of these factors, along with any others, contribute to the drop in favorable views of colleges and universities, the implications are potentially far-reaching. If more than a third of the country, and six in 10 Republicans, think that institutions of higher education are harming the country, it’s hard to imagine that won’t eventually result in larger drops in enrollment. And since, whatever Trump says, those manufacturing and mining jobs almost certainly aren’t coming back to their old levels, that could create a drag on the nation’s economy in the future."
Trump already tried to deal with the Mexican President, a long time ago. As you'll recall, their President was understanding, however not truly willing to cooperate. He's afraid of (possibly for reasons we can only assume) the Mexican drug cartel(s). There lies the real problem. Obama armed them, perhaps we should send him to negotiate taking those arms back. lol
I certainly won't pretend to speak for what any margin of Republicans say but I will say a few things on College and higher education issues. Colleges like healthcare are for profit ventures. Couple that with marketing the idea that you have to have a higher education to be anything and you get the results we have. Higher tuition cost. And if a degree from an Ivy League school is better than pay more and assume your future income will justify it. And so we have now cycled to, you can't just have any degree you have to have a better than most degree, and it can't be an Associate's or Bachelor's. Everybody has those. Now they have convinced us that unless you have a Master's or higher in something you won't be marketable. So now we have Master's degrees competing for entry level jobs carrying huge student debt loads needing to make 75K to start or they can't manage very well. Task them to m Meanwhile all the plumbers, mechanics, contractors, and pick your trades are in shortages in vast numbers. So some of this is true. Tuitions are too high, student debt is too high and we don't need those entering into a workforce when I can hire a lot less educated to do some jobs as well or better. As an employer, I see far too many well degreed people looking for work assuming I will rationalize their value like it was rationalized to them. They have no practical experience and think that this is what the books say so this is how the real world is. And what they want to be paid far outweighs what they are worth to me. They can't manage to open a Fed-Ex account without help. I can hire 2 lesser educated people that don't need the wages they do and still know I have the right person for the job. I am proud to post jobs that state no college degrees required. We need a more distributed workforce instead of a bunch or unemployed Master Degrees. We have educated ourselves out of jobs. The only ones that make out are the colleges and the student debt creditors. That needs to be fixed. No matter which party.
