    What is the difference between the Palyul and Nyingma schools.

    the difference between schools are their people - i have liked a lot of palyul people = not pretentious, open about teachings, youngish. i liked pema norbu a lot. you could do much worse.

    Thank-you...I have been studying Buddhism on my own for a few years via books and now I have a chance to go for teachings at a Palyul Monastery in my area. I did want to study the oldest tradition so that is great that Palyul is part of that.

    Actually Buddhism didn't reach Tibet until the 600s C.E.

    Buddhism started about 500 B.C.E. in India.
    So it was already about 1,000 years old when it reached Tibet.

    i still liked palyu and getting guhyagarbha - then there's a 6 volume set of a dissertation on the guhya so you could really understand and it's an old tantra which is really neat - anyway it's the first shitro, or book of the dead

    buddhism is great cause if you read a nikaya then you are hearing the historicak buddha speaking to you

    it's like 3000 years but buddha is still really there.

    and when asked how he could claim liberation he merely touched the earth
    such eloquence and honor

    i loved buddha before anyone taught me

    i used to dress in a saffron beach towel and watch kung fu - i was 6. i didn't know then it was a hodge podge of daoism and buddhism. i wouldn't have cared - they both rule

    in all my talking with spiritual acolytes two buddhist women have said the most touching things i ever heard (including you me again)
