It's on the lib dems agenda, and other parties are considering it. It's an election matter. Regardless of whether or not some people like it, or the MSM and mainstream parties like to talk about it at election time, or not it is and always has been an election issue for millions of people. I'm not bothered about police numbers. As far as I'm concerned the less cops there are the better, because they don't seem to serve me any useful purpose. They have the right to deny me my civil liberties, and they recently arrested me for no valid reason and I had to plead guilty in the end to breach of the peace because two other assholes committed perjury. All the police do is bully me around and stitch me up on fake charges. So I don't care about the issue of there being not enough police. Maybe we should start another thread for that?
Recreational is medicinal. Medicinal can be recreational if you want, no harm there. Those campaigning for recreational are not damaging the case for medicinal. Preventative medicine is the best medicine. It is also not a gateway drug. Prohibition leads to hard drugs, not cannabis. Good weed leads to more good weed, maybe even a pizza or a pint of beer! People mix it with tobacco because the quality is crap. If you go to places where the quality is better people are more likely to smoke it pure, vaporise it or even eat it. I'm really starting to wonder what bit of "hip" in "hip forums" is attracting some people to here...
It doesn't mean much at all. You could count the 'hippies' on here, esp. in the UK section, on one hand. But look, I'm not saying it isn't an issue. But I really don't think anything is going to change as a result of this election. The LibDems aren't going to hold any power, and even if they did their scheme is deeply flawed. It's going to take pressure on politicians to put it seriously on the agenda, and the right wing media are lined up against it.
The police are not really any particular friends of mine, but when you have nut cases out there carrying out attacks - terrorists and ordinary criminals, I think we do need police. One of the very bad things about prohibition is that a lot of people who are otherwise law abiding are classified as criminal. Ordinary people who simply like to relax with a herb that won't give them a nasty hangover the next day or rot their liver or end in cancer. And of course. police resources get diverted into chasing cannabis users when they should be out catching violent criminals of all types. To me that seems completely stupid. And actually. some police forces would like to see it decriminalized at the least, thus freeing them up to look into actual crime.
not sure how many pain sufferers would agree with this. true. though who really campaigns for recreational? even you justify it numerous time in this thread for its medical use alone. well, this may or may not be true. i mean, for me personally, i'm do use them so clearly prohibiting my right has not made me a hard drug user. in fact, as it goes, my best friend from comprehensive school started smoking weed when he was 14. as did i with him for maybe 6 months. now, nearly twenty years later and he has started taking everything but heroin (thankfully), is on strict observation due to his health, and has been arrested for petty dealing. so, may or may not be true. fair enough. the expansive nature of the forum and with this, quite evidently, a broad range of people and opinions to which can be debated as per a 'forum' by its very nature. we are only talking.
i personally would like to see cannabis legalised in time, but not yet. you have a great point though, resources are wasted on people who are not doing any harm.
Not yet? Like what's the rush.. How can you be in favour of legalising, but "not yet"? You're either in favour of legalising it or your not. We need to legalise it now. Plenty. I've never been in favour of medicinal alone, I've always campaigned for both. But if we can only get medicinal then it's at least a start, then everyone will go to their doctor to try and get prescribed cannabis oil. So it's better that recreational goes along hand with medicinal. Do you think he would have still tried harder drugs if weed hadn't been available? My mate who I used to smoke with is a smack addict now, cider and smack, because it's all he can get. I've dabbled with heroin a few times, just smoking it and it felt good. But I kind of didn't feel as though I was in control, so I've tried it a few times and that'll do me. I've also tried coke a few times, and drank a lot of whisky and smoked a lot of cigarettes over the years. Had better quality cannabis been available 20 years ago I'd probably never have tried harder drugs, and certainly I'd have drunk a lot less and probably never taken up smoking tobacco ever in the first place. So what's the gateway there, cannabis or prohibition of cannabis?
I wonder how many people who end up on hard drugs had their first drug experiences with tobacco or alcohol? Probably most of them. And since alc in particular is ultimately a type of anaesthetic, maybe they get conditioned to drugs of a kind that will switch them off, rather than cannabis which in many cases switches people on. Maybe if we tried to construct a better and fairer society people wouldn't feel the need to escape reality by using hard drugs. Not much hope of that under May & co.
PMSL What's the naughtiest thing Theresa May has ever done? She once ran through a field of wheat when she was a child. Call the cops. Oh, and selling weapons to Saudi Arabia... https://twitter.com/itvnews/status/872017947585380352
concerning its timing, i'm not repeating myself, not necessary. you can refer to earlier posts. i do feel, however, that rather then being objective, we are getting rather case specific in our reasoning here. i was only attempting to bridge the gap.. you say prohibition leads to hard drug use, i was only trying to give you that 'other hand' so to speak. i appreciate you enjoy drugs, it doesn't effect me and i do not abhor your behaviour. maybe 20 years ago, had it not been the culture, you would have not been taking weed. we can agree to disagree, with no harm.
And if alcoholism hadn't been the culture I grew up into I might not have abused my liver so much over the years.
There seems to be a major witch-hunt against Dianne Abbott at the moment. She is a genuine politician who cares about people, unlike Health Secretary Jeremy **** for example.
To be fair though, she is asking for it. She should resign her post with immediate effect because she's doing the Labour party no favours with her bumbling ineptness. Diane Abbot voted with the Blairites in 2003 to invade Iraq. She's now seen the error of her ways though, so she's alright. If she can't do basic maths or make the right decision when millions of people's lives are at stake then she needs to go.
