free no, but monopolized and centralized, enabled to be kept that way by fossil combustion, is not only not free either, but collectively suicidal for the human species. and totally unneeded. incident energy does require large collecting areas and good storage technologies, but many small roofs make much larger collection area then centralized power monopolies, and we DO have the technologies. it hasn't been a matter of having to wait for them for more then a couple of decades now. only excuses by exploiters not wanting to loose their subsidies. that's right, oil and gas, coal and uranium are all being subsidised at tax payer expense against the best interest of every human and every other living things. its the fossil fuel industrie that's living in the fantasy that they keep trying to con everyone else into, that they can keep getting away for ever, with what they have, because they've had the economy their way for a few centuries. economies come and go. the generosity of nature, life depends on.
seriously, its only 14F outside, some electric heater on, fire place and a furnace running.. this house it near 88F in some spots.. um no thats not gonna be.!!! they got to be kidding. rooms nobody is using wide open taking up energy... its not even that cold ffs..
Burning fossil fuels is all the 3rd world can get. They don't care (and can't afford) western 'green' propaganda, and they will build coal fired power stations no matter what your bunch want. All the 'greens' are achieving in the west is the death of local manufacturing, large scale unemployment and people living their whole lives on welfare. The USA is using 95% of the world's resources. Try using a little less yourself before forcing your silliness on the rest of the world.
im super sensitive to the cold, but even more so to extreme heat..and then they get all pissed off when i say find a lazyboy and a blanket, get a cup of coco, sit stll for a few hours, watch a movie , read a book. ffs like children. .
Shit I have 11 rooms including kitchen and bathroom and I only heat 1 single room at a time. Kind of sucks taking a piss but it's only a minute each time.
i agree america has a responsibility to set a better example. that is after all, the very meat as it were, of my point. however advancement and transition to advancement can be achieved by bypassing the slimy mess entirely and going directly instead to local production of renewable technologies. as for "death of manufacturing", exporting jobs to places where workers are prohibited from organizing by their local governments, pressured by international manufacturers to do so, is the primary cause of loss of those jobs. not the growth in alternative energy technologies.
Energy is free from our local star, it's the conversion to usable form that costs money. Of course the conspiracy buffs would call this globalization, the taking over of the world by some shadow group.
Its not all propaganda dude. Use some discernment please. The reason 3rd world countries are MAINLY (not only, there are alternative energy initiatives all over the world) dependant on burning fossil fuels is because they are in a development phase. Same with countries like China or India. They're doing a catch up of what western countries went through in their industrial revolution phase(s). I guess you're talking about death of local manufacturing and large scale unemployment because of the jobs that would be lost when fossil fuels would not be used so much? I don't see how that has to mean anything to local manucaturing. If that is getting some sort of deathblow it is probably due to other reasons. About the loss of jobs: switching to reen energy also creates new jobs of course. I think if the main reason to keep polluting the world with fossil fuels is to keep the economy working (e.g. just to ensure people can keep their job) we're seriously doing something wrong I 100% agree with your last sentence. Its a disgrace to tell other nations how to act when we (pretentious western nations) are outrageously wasteful ourselves. So many clueless people in the west wasting unnecessary amounts of water, energy and gas on a daily basis. There are most likely more western companies taking advantage of the situation in 3rd world countries as there are western companies over there with good economic and/or green intiatives.
All in all, this is a great idea. But there is just one problem. Everyone must get along. Including China, North Korea and a few Middle Eastern nations. This would make a great world infrastructure. But what happens when Radical Islamists decide to cause chaos. They thrive on that, they find a way to take out our grid and we'll need a good backup plan. Unless our entire world is ready to accept their religion to avoid having anymore problems in our daily lives. We need to come up with a cure for them as well. Because they will not allow for everyone to have a peaceful, free camp out. That problem needs resolved before we can have Global success at anything. I do like your idea. But we need some kind of resolution for that other problem. Not sure how we can do that.
guess I'm the only one that knew Orison was bitchin' about his female "housemates" and not the global energy situation. but about energy, there are ultimately only three sources of energy available to us, nuclear, solar and geothermal. The last two are the "engines" that account for all other means of making energy, so why not cut out the middleman of decomposed plants and animals in their various forms and go straight to the sources?
Tidal energy Hydro Food > exercise bike > dynamo generator Fossil fuels Hydrogen Yep, pretty sure there are more than three.
