    Personally I like my sandals,

they are birkenstocks, they cost a hundreds dollars,
I have had the same pair now for 5 years, and this year I will be getting rid of them cause on a bender at folk fest i thought it a good idea to walk in a river with them on.
I have had the same pair for five years now because birkenstocks have this thing where when your soles wear out they replace them for free. Very nice if you want to go through the trouble. I can get my sole replaced anytime, and keep the footbed which I have worn in and made comfortable over the years.

There is nothin wrong with a company if they make a good quality product and they charge rightly for it. Birkenstock even makes cheaper made sandals out of inferior materials (the Betulas). I once bought a pair of betulas for 30 bucks, but after a while the leather type strap part disintegrated within a year, unlike my real birks. Now I could buy a new pair of Betula sandals or any other brand and destroy them within the year, or I could buy one pair of well made sandals and have them last 5 times as long. Around me there is no other well made brand like Birkenstocks, in fact I cant think of another sandal i have owned like them, I hate goofy looking strappy sandals I want a nice pair of well made Jesus sandals.

In conclusion, haha anything can become a status symbol if you wear it as one.

Hey, those do look nice, its a shame they dont have one in a two strap model, I get bugged out with flip flops and things that go around my toe.
But look how nice they are formed to ones feet, in the resoling section you can see how well they form up.

i usually dont wear shoes but when i go out i have to wear something so i put on my berkinstocks

theyre not really berkinstocks theyre a pair of cheap immitation so cheap i didnt even pay for them i took them from my moms closet i love walking barefoot but when i have to i love wearing my sandels
i only call them berkinstocks so people can identify with what they look like
but i dont like being labeled a yuppie
so from now on i will call them sandels if you will not label me a yuppie
    love you all

Our brothers and sisters before us wore the birenstocks in the day. That was before it all became a fad. Now I usually only get clogs of what I find at thrift stores, but when I was at Sam's club with a friend of my I saw a pair of Birkenstocks for $20. You bet I bought them and I wear them all the time. I usually wear out my clogs within months and these have lasted almost like new all summer. I only have three pairs of shoes. My clogs, my sandals, and my boots. I am set and do not need 300 or so shoes to be happy like some people. Peace!

hey man, dont bash the birks. they are the next best thing to barefeet when you have to go without! I've had mine for 2 years and they are as comfortable as ever and havent even started to fall apart. I didnt buy them to show off the tiny "birkenstock" label on the side, I bought them to wear for a long long time. They last forever I tell you. I'd rather invest $80 into a pair of comfortable sandels then $20 or whatever for plastics that give me blisters and fall apart after the summer. so easy easy they are the best....

I were Tevas... I got em cheap, they are sport sandals, and they are great for like if you go hiking... you can get them wet without problem, and they strap on to you feet. people wear Birks becuase they are comfortable. they are like cork i guess so it forms to the shape of your foot. and they are made from real leather i guess idk so maybe thats why they are so expensive. i'd rather go barefoot haha

when i think of someone who likes to go barefoot... and they wear birks, i thought of the ones that slip on and off real fast that are open toed, not the clogs, a lot of the abercrombie and fitch (preps) wear them in my school. i dont care i was just saying :) haha

I wear Birks... I demolish shoes when ever i wear them... They get chucked around, lost in mud, lots of tragic stuff happens to them... But i paid to much money for my birks to allow myself to lose them (stopping me from having to go buy another pair of shoes every month) and birk will fix them... Ive had that same ones for about 6 years now... Had one repair done to them.... And there really comfy... Fake birks are not

no its cool i just dont want to spend that much cause i do the same sort of thing as Faerie, but i found a pair of sandels that are alot like them from Walmart and i find em pretty comfy just for $8 instead of $80. ;)

I have major feet problems so I physically CAN'T walk barefoot. Ever since I was little I've had arch problems to the point that even when I did karate, I would try to do it all barefoot but would end up hurting so bad that I would be on the floor writhing in pain. I've found that Birkenstocks are some of the few shoes that I can actually wear for a long time where my feet will never start hurting. I actually get the rip off kind called Tulas from Shoe Carnival or something which are made by Birkenstock but cost $20. I love them. My old Birkenstock clogs got worn so much in so much weather that now they're discusting and I hate to bring myself to buy new ones... but that's what Ebay is for.

I don't think there's anything wrong with buying decent shoes because if you buy shitty shoes, they're just going to fall apart and waste resources and be a general bother.
