A Bobcat. I didn't see it, but was mushroom hunting in the woods this spring with a friend and heard one. They have just been released here in the wild, even though there have always been a select few.
Now they are common. That is one scary sound, and in our area it's obvious as fuck what it was. Enough to make your hair stand up. Especially while neither of us were carrying a sidearm. Last time I go into the woods unarmed.
