They have not come to my apartment building in years. When they did I told them there was no soliciting on the premises. I don't remember seeing them out in public but in general if someone like that is trying to engage in a conversation I say, "No thank you." and walk away. I do not accept their literature.
You have an interesting perception of the situation, albeit distorted and confused. The people you talked to did not turn tail and run, they simply judged you correctly as a person who is not meek nor teachable, therefore not worthy of their time and effort to correct. Thus they left to seek people who actually want to learn what the Bible actually teaches. You are incorrect. The Bible does not teach that Christ is Jehovah. They are two distinct individuals. Any scripture you quote can be explained as to why this is, and why your view of those scriptures is inaccurate. You also cannot assume that every couple of Jehovah's Witnesses must include an Elder. There are far fewer Elders among Jehovah's Witnesses than a one to one ratio. It could simply be that a more experienced Publisher (as most JW's are known) correctly judged you to be someone with whom an argument would produce no fruit.
One more thing, Jehovah's Witnesses skip homes that post NO TRESPASSING or PRIVATE PROPERTY. For those places, reverse phonebook lookup or mail is the way they will attempt to reach you. Or in the park like some of you have experienced. Or Wegmans Parking lot, or a gas station, or a rest stop. According to the Constitution of the United States of America and over a dozen Supreme Court decisions, they do have the right to Proselytize. And even in countries where this is not the case, they still have the obligation under the law of God himself to do this. No country has the right to deny this. No country has the right to overrule the higher laws of God. Jehovah's Witnesses in those places where they are banned still operate, but much more carefully.
following Jesus to preach the good news of the Kingdom in all the inhabited Earth and then the end will come. Jehovah's Witnesses preaching over 240 lands, their website jw.org is in over seven hundred languages. God is trying to reach you but you are the one that is not awake. they are a people that do not serve in the military do not involve himself in police actions or become the police themselves. They live solely by Bible truth. Celebrate no man-made holidays. Salute no Flags. is partial and stays neutral in all political affairs
I grew up on a street on a steep hillside with blind corners without any sidewalks. The houses were far apart and no door to door salesman dared walk up that street on foot. The only ones ballsy enough to make that trip were the Mormons. When they came to the door. I would guzzle water out of an empty vodka bottle.
They used to stand outside the bars and hand out pamphlets. I basically just handled them the way I would any other panhandler; kept my eyes straight ahead and walked on by.
Had one that used to come all the time. I liked reading awake so would take it and say gotta go. One time a different group came and told them I am aware of whatever line they started with. They asked how, and I replied that I have a friend who is a JW. As soon as I said that they walked away. The friend actually knocked on my door one time. He didn't know where I lived in only knew him from hockey.
A Jehovah Witness was going door to door one day. When he come to a house, a man answered the door. The man said "get out of here, go preach to the cat".. The cat sat on the porch and listened to the Jehovah Witness for over an hour. The cat then followed the Jehovah Witness door to door. Soon the cat knew the way of the Jehovah and began to go door to door on its own.. Thus Jehovah cat was born. Don't be fooled by Jehovah cat, he looks like any other cat, but once you let him in, you cant get him out..
Uhmm, sure, whatever you say, slick. *rolleyes* so you know what knowledge of the Bible and JW's I possess merely from reading one post. First: try researching it via various sources/interpretations of the writings in question, not just the HEAVILY ALTERED Jehovah's Witless version. Second: You are wrong in your assumptions as too why they left, they left because I know what the fuck I'm talking about concerning the topic. They rely on folks being ignorant of what the Bible actually reports because their rendition of it is soooo fucking off from any other interpretation. In reality, as you delve deeper into their beliefs they are more akin to Mormonism and Scientology than mainstream Christianity.
Ugh, the people with that stupid magazine drive me crazy. They seem to be everywhere. I usually just ignore them and walk right by, or if I am feeling kind, I will simply say "No thank you".
Now I want to bump into one and just make ridiculous comments and questions. Like "I wonder how good Jesus would be at hockey...you know just using him humanly skills." Or what kind of wine was that, that he made...I bet it was a chardonnay.
i really don't think i've ever been approached by a jw. i see stacks of their magazines everywhere, but i don't recall anyone ever trying to talk to me about it.
About 1993 or so a long haired bible thumper came to the door... When I opened the door his jaw dropped, eye's bugged out. After recovering what ever composure he could he said "You look like Jesus, man"... I said... "No I don't. Jesus was jewish. Would you like to hear about Tyr? The ancient god of the northern tribes." He never did come back.
there are no non-man made holidays, other then the solstices and equinoxes, and even those, it is ourselves, who make holidays of them, if any of us even still do. god is not trying to tell anyone anything. whatever gods exist, are unknown to any beliefs about them. sure they, or something close enough to them, might very well exist. i even believe things no one has ever begun to imagine really do. but whatever any man or book, claims to know about them, is either intended for themselves alone, or basically, pulled out of their ass. it is not my wish to trivialize the good intentions of the earliest creators of all beliefs. that we should encourage each other to want to avoid causing harm. but rather this very intent is denied, by every word spoken or written, claiming knowledge of god's will.
