In the past ISIS told their followers to use vehicles in an attack, so the French security officials should have been better prepared especially during Bastille day

I don't understand the point you're trying to make.

I was hoping it wouldn't happen this time, but they've started to light up monuments in blue white and red

I don't think it is becoming normal (not trying to trigger a debate ;) just my thoughts)

Yeah indeed, how horrible and sickening right.

Might have got my timing a bit wrong there, too soon to focus on this

The lights on the monument thing, it's a bit....not even sure which word best describes it....80+ people just got mowed down, let's light up national monuments in pretty colours much the same way we do on NYE.

    ???

Yes, it is indeed curious why you are so annoyed by that.

Just that a lot of the problems are due to religious ideas. The way woman are treated and kids are raised. Not as bad as the south east USA but there wasn't always a walk in the park either.

Maybe a funny take on things but not much more. Some people place to much emphasis on certain kind of reactions when even people like you write in topics about it that they don't know how to react themselves. Maybe the exact fact that we don't know how to react to this stuff is the reason why we collectively seem to react with 'pointless' things like throwing flowers at the place of tragedy, organizing silent walks (I would not be part of that any time soon, but to mock or be annoyed by it, how pointless and sad), or light up buildings to show solidarity. I won't even adress the crying on tv and refugee thing in that supposedly witty pic because.... really?

    edit: spelling

    84 Dead and 188 Injured.

Le Monde has a useful summary of what it knows about the dead suspect Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel.
It says he had recently been arrested for a fight after a traffic dispute and that he was armed with a pistol.
It points out that although his action suggest he was terrorist, police have urged caution. It points out that in December 2014, a motorist injured several people shouting “Allah Akbar”, in what was thought was initially thought to be a terrorist attack. It later emerged that he had a long history of psychiatric treatment and the prosecution concluded it was not a terrorist attack.https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2016/jul/14/nice-bastille-day-france-attack-promenade-des-anglais-vehicle

The killer was a local man! No amount of closing borders or rounding up of muslim infiltrators can stop a disaffected franco-tunisian from committing atrocities like this.

It will, however, cut down on future attacks. Which happens to be the goal.

No it won't, these people already live in the communities they are attacking! many were born in those communities, unless you are advocating rounding up ALL muslims & doing...what with them? Interning them? get real!!

So stopping the flood of non vetted illegal aliens long enough to find out which Muslims already in the community place Sharia above the country any local constitution, wouldn't cut down on future attacks. Brilliant!
