Oh I do that sometimes and I seem to lose more names as each year goes by. I didn't really get elementary or primary school photos but definitely was enrolled in high school. Honestly the people I don't remember, doesn't bother me one bit either.

Back when I was going to college, the last year there (4th), I had all my boxes packed...HUGE boxes.

Mama came and we packed up the Plymouth Fury III, and even though it was loaded, it wasn't loaded enough...come to find out. I also didn't have the experience packing and moving that I do now...Mama was, well...her job wasn't to help me pack. lol

I had a good special box, full of excellent old sheet music from the 1920s through the 1940s, things I'd written since I was in grade school, ALL of my year books and some special books I'd had through the years...not school books.

We got home, which was all the way across the state...and after I got everything out and unpacked realized by the next day I did NOT have that box. I could, and still can, see it in my mind's eye in that hall way...the last box - my most special one, waiting to be loaded.

We called the school more than once in a desperate and futile search. I advertised, offering a reward (which I knew was mostly bs as I placed this lost item ad) in that town's local paper. Nothing. Never heard a word.

none of that stuff ever seen again.

edit: I kept in touch with a student that went there and was there the next year. A custodian questioned her about me the next year and described some pictures I had...so we basically figured out he got the box...and wasn't going to part with even a scrap of paper. dammit

Oh yeah - I had LOTS of damn excellent memory pictures.

Actual conversation I had with my mom when we were out for lunch yesterday.

Mom: he is the president who started the bonds. (Misunderstood her thinking she said bombs)

Me: (trying to think of truman) they had bombs before that but it was what's his name that had the big one.

Mom: not bongs I said bonds.

Me. (As my mom phone rings) not bongs I said bombs (she was already talking to my aunt and I am pretty sure she still thinks that I think a president started bongs)

Speaking of bongs I just saw a guy smoking pot out of a fish.

Elie Wiesel passed away. i still remember how strongly affected i was when i read Night. i was in the first part of 8th grade. im so glad i was in accelerated classes, or even that they had them in NY, out here the efforts to challenge smart kids are still sorely lacking. but i wouldnt have gotten to read such a book otherwise.
