Living in South Florida, I wear flip-flops year round and go barefoot all the time while in my house. Actually I am nude in my apartment at all times. I have had ppl come visit and I put on my cutoff shorts - that's it. Sometimes, if it is someone I don't actually know in my apartment the thot hits me that I am minimally dressed with no shoes or shirt, but it is my place, my rules of attire.

It was on facebook where I posted on one of my barefooter friend's timeline that I used to go barefoot outside all the time but I now have a neuropathy that makes it extremely painful to walk on pavement where the gravel sticks up. One of her fanatical barefoot friends got really upset about that and unfriended her for allowing other friends not to be barefooters. She thot it was extreme too.

Half the reason I won't join the SBL page... besides not being interested in local or state "any barefooters from this (region)?" gatherings... is some take the "militant" approach. I can be barefoot without their support since that was done (kicked out of stores or not) by many barefooters and decades before DSS that became SBL. That's review, I've mentioned this before. So if I do encounter another barefooter while minding my own business, that doesn't mean future meetup arrangements even if I converse with them at that time, and assuming they start the conversation, and assuming they are adult... let me say even over 21. I will still barefoot on my own as I did before (whether or not they are also there because I didn't arrange it) and I don't want to hear about joining the SBL.

So, as I have mentioned twice so far... that the way they push against businesses in the short term is going to affect non-barefoot organizations in the long term. If I took the SBL approach and was confronted by a greeter or manager: I would have asked for a manager against the greeter, written corporate about the manager, demanded to see their justification if they back the manager, if they claimed insurance then demanded to see the policy, maybe even convince a doctor into writing me a note for a condition that requires them to walk barefoot (medical fraud or ADA fraud). Let's also be real that a lot of "look I was barefoot here" photos are meh so what: Cold is uninteresting to me (good luck with getting feeling back in the toes even if not actual frostbite), heat is sometimes amazing they can handle that much (because it means I am not unrealistic training for that much heat) The page is still public when logged into Facebook, so everyone can see their experiences but also their politics. Some of their positions can be extreme to militant? YES!

Here's an example of how I didn't cause an extreme situation: I happened to be shopping in Riverside County, 95 degrees out, parking lot no problem so entered a Costco barefoot. Turns out there is a sign that I notice how that shoes were required, but anyway no one bothered me until... I had to ask where to find an item. Seeing as how it was a supervisor, and they could see other items in my cart: I was seen barefoot. He firmly (note: not rudely) told me you need shoes to be in here. I told him they were in the car (the truth, they were) and I was almost done shopping anyway. No further interaction.

Another one... greeter encounter at a Walmart. Greeter: "shoes required"... well, I didn't see a sign... "no shoes no shirt no service, see?" (oops, no sign on the door when they tried to show me) "well it's the store policy"... okay I'll go get shoes. Get the shoes, enter without even commenting back to them. Done.

(A couple of edits to fix spelling errors and word omissions since I usually compose and copy/paste, but this time typed directly in the text box. Any additional errors, I'll just leave them... my points are clear enough.)

It takes just a few minutes with the help of some warm water and warming your toes by the hot fireplace. Afterwards, your circulation will work on a whole new level.

Your points, as usual, are trapped in a forest of text!

Although, fair do's, that last post of yours is quite concise.

I have just flown from Europe back to New Zealand. I was kind of expecting problems with transit in Los Angeles but no-one gave my bare feet a second glance.
