Absolutely. I'm pretty used to working in very cold weather and...even being used to it...I'm usually fine all day until maybe an hour after I get home and get warm. Then it hits my body and I feel all of the extra work my body has done all day just trying to stay warm.

Yup. And it's kind of a "Catch 22" because when it's really cold, you can be out all morning and feel fine (not feeling the extra energy being used to help your body acclimate). Then you take lunch (refuel the body), warm up a bit and eat and when you get back out there.....you feel colder than you did during the earlier, colder hours of the day. My guess is because now you've warmed up a bit and your body is having to spend energy adjusting to the cold again and....at the same time...spend energy processing the fuel you've just consumed. I'm usually colder after lunch for a little while.

I think it's because your blood rushes to your gut for digestion.

Other than my hands I wasn't cold this afternoon... Down filled leather coat, insulated boots and ski bibs.... It wasn't a body temp issue. The wind though, like getting cut with knives. That sucked and my hands felt like they were shredded meat for about 1/2 hour after I got back inside. I had on insulated gloves but they weren't up to the task, obviously.
