Sometimes that's how I feel when the racoons and o'possums eat the cat food.

The raccoon population in Texas was so bad that I started bribing them with cat food. I'd leave a dish out on the porch every night so they'd leave my chickens and fish alone. It worked for a very long time, too. I could go out on the porch at night and there'd be a family of raccoons eating the cat food and one of those odd chickens perched on the railing about two foot away.

Until I ordered some fancy tilapia organic food and didn't get it put into metal containers before dark. The raccoons loved that expensive food... tore into the bags and made a total mess of things. Once I'd put the remaining food where they couldn't get at it... they broke into my greenhouse and made a huge mess of the plant trays. Total temper tantrum.

That ended THAT truce. I started raising Irish Wolfhounds. :)

OMG! about the raccoons...they come on the porch from time to time and eat the dry cat food I leave out there. grrr Those are bigger critters than you'd think! And mine are bold sometimes...standing up :yikes: looking at you like so-what-the-hellluwant, but they run out quick for the most part which is how I like it. As it is with possums. When Sam stays and comes in early enough I just go ahead and close the door. I have found it open but Sam had to be the one to open it. oh well...he is like a small panther and I really don't want fighting on the porch if I can help it.

Raccoons are known to carry rabies around here, as are foxes and bats.

either way racoons the spell check is saying I'm spelling it wrong but racoons are not to be played with imo.

I LOVE Irish wolf hounds. I think I'd love them...I've never really been around them. However,I've thought IF I were to (very unlikely) want another dog, that is what I'd want.

I am choosy as hell with my radio...I know the schedules of all my talk radio faves but today every 10 minutes someone else is doing a story or tribute but they never play the whole song

I had the same problem with the spelling of 'racoons'. I gave up and just spelled at it. :)

The Irish are huge dogs. Absolutely no help with being a watch dog for humans. They love everybody but they are great for running off critters. One Irish can handle a full pack of coyotes.... and stand their own with cougars. I caught my big male midair leaping at a bull calf, though. They don't distinguish between domesticated critters and wild. Like all Irish beings, they are pretty much untrainable. :)

I didn't tell y'all about the night I looked out where I feed the back porch kitties, who are not to be confused with the carport kitties, nor the house cats, anyway there were 3 raccoon out there at once!

Normally, I've only seen them one at a time.
