A few years ago a wonder friend got seriously sick. I ended up helping her by buying her house because she would have lost it do to bills. She lived there with her daughter rent free. She pasted away a few weeks ago so I ended up putting the utilities in my name while I figured out what was going to happen. The daughter went to her fathers and coming and going to the house I own. Her mother and brother are trying to take care of her stuff and know I own the place, we get along fine but today I stop by and the ex is there and telling me he inherited the place and plans on moving in. I'm like wtf and tell him what happened, he blows up and starts screaming at me saying he's getting a lawyer and I won't get away with this . People are friggin crazy.
thats a great idea for him to get a lawyer...he's gonna need one i had cousins plundering my grandfathers stuff the day after he died they couldnt even wait until after the funeral
I'm not sure what we will all get from our parents. I might nab the cooking stuff but then leave the houses for the other three sisters. I don't need it. I'd be happy with our ancient history family tree book too.
Dude ever hear of squatters rights? Ha, ha, just kidding. It’s a good thing you picked up the utilities so they can’t claim it’s a zombie house. Looks like you've covered all the bases. Hotwater
I dont know how it works in the US But is there a Deed For This house ? Here the owner of the house is the one with His/Her name on the Deed's 99% of the time
that is the way in the u.s. the ex, who's name was never on the deed, has no legal claim. which any lawyer he tries to hire, will most likely attempt up front to explain to him. that is of course, if and if and if, and i'm not a lawyer, and i don't have anything setting in front of me other then some words sent over the internet. belligerent nut cases, can of course be dangerous in extralegal ways, especially if we don't know whether he's a street bum with anger issues or a one percenter with mental problems.
1% ??? Theres a lot more guys that are crazy nutters like this than 1% He would be the ex for a reason, seems he hadnt been helping her and I assume his own daughter with the finances for however long But the ex wife dies and he expects the house Too many guys out there than shun responsibilities, blame everyone and everything else but then expect a handout when the time comes...and wonder why everyone thinks they are a douchebag Way more than 1%
what i meant by that, by a one percenter, was someone well off financially and with connections, who was none the less just as ignorant and lacking in real understanding, as you know, someone without those advantages, who had the same anger issues. i sort of thought, this was something everyone would understand. of course there are a lot more crazy nutters. most of them even. and a lot of people do things, like getting married, just for their ego, because they see other people doing so, without the slightest concept of responsibility, ever crossing their little pea brain mind. some live in gutters and some live in mansions and everywhere in between. each are dangerous, though in slightly different ways. sorry for the confusion. i didn't realize i was being obscure.
I hope you have insurance on it, and a surveillance camera. Nut jobs tend to wreck or burn things they can't keep.
That was directed at everyone else reading this thread, dont take it as a attack on you I'm so sick of guys like that, as you said, they seem to be everywhere
Death in families can turn people into money-crazed vampires. I've watched it unfold several times, creating rifts in families with some magnificent drama that sometimes lasts generations. Ridiculous and sad.
Nice comeback VG......not "1% ???" "Theres a lot more guys that are crazy nutters like this than 1%" directed at everyone else who said nothing of any % of anything not an attack just pointing out the obvious Sucks that some sworm like vultures after a death. Good luck. wouldn't worry as long as you bought the house ligit
im sure he has all that stuff...i dont know jo king much but from what i gather he seems to really know his business stuff..he just dioesnt like dealing with stupid bullshit people
One Percenters fully understand real estate title. Was your title to the property insured? Your Title Ins. Co. will foot your legal bills
Even if an individual is not on title; some rights are gained by joint residence in a marital property. this does not sound like a joint residence,
Sounds to me like you have everything covered, hun. I'd make sure the property taxes are paid because that's one way someone can steal real estate. If it were me... I'd sell that place as soon as possible, too. It was awfully sweet of you to take care of this woman. Good Karma, lovie.
