So I asked out this girl at work today and she immediately said "sure!" And then she asked me for my number. I thought this was weird because I was expecting that I would have to ask for HER number. (Isn't that the way it always goes?) Then she said that she would text her number to me. But anyways I wrote it down for her. A few seconds later when I asked if I could get her number she just repeated that she would text it to me. It's been a few hours since this encounter and still no text. Is this girl really interested in me or was she just trying to get me to leave her alone?

I sometimes wait hours (which have turned into days/weeks/months) to respond to simple messages such as "hello".

Yes. Have you received a follow up letter from her lawyers?

More seriously tho, you may have asked her too early in the process. Alternatively, few hrs is nothing tho. Think in terms of a few days.
When those few days are up, well then maybe its your fault. Maybe it isn't.
If it isn't, do yourself a favour and don't waste any time. Because it would suggest she's a bit lame.
I've seen it with friends and their interactions with girls. It would suggest she's playing you.

As an analogy, refusal to exchange phone numbers in business (WHEN its appropriate!) is really the height of rudeness.
So really, it should be considered the same in social situations.
