So storch, you wanna hear opinions or what the text relays? In short, according to the Bible, prior to the crucifixion/resurrection the only means to approach God was via the priesthood and the sacrifices and even then only a select few could actually enter the "holy of holie's" where the ark of the covenant/God's presence resided. Upon Jesus's death when he proclaimed "it is finished" referring to the OT law, the veil of the temple was ripped in half from top to bottom symbolizing that God has removed the barrier between himself and a man. Further after the resurrection Jesus told the followers that he must leave but that he would send his spirit to be with them. 40 days later on the day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit was revealed and "took up residence" in the believers and dramatically changed them, the most apparent and dramatic personality change was Simon Peter. And that is how the relationship between man and God changed from the old covenant to the new covenant and the holy spirit is a direct experience/connection to God. That is a rough paraphrase of what the Bible records concerning your question. Now if you wanna argue about whether it is real or what I believe, go knock on someone else door, I'm not going to waste my time.
I see. So, I shouldn't mistake your familiarity with what the text says about pre-resurrection and post-resurrection conditions with your belief in it.
All I asked you was how the situation (communication) changed after the alleged resurrection, and what the situation before the alleged resurrection was. Since when is asking that question a declaration of opposition to Christianity? Questioning the truth of something is not a statement of opposition. That was rather knee-jerk of you.
So is that an acknowledgment of understanding or do you feel a person isn't allowed to be familiar with a topic unless they completely accept and believe all it claims?
I take into consideration the entirety of a persons communications here, not just one post. In that light, yes, you have portrayed yourself as a person opposed to Christianity.
I agree. The evolution of one's relationship with, and beliefs about, one's god is actually the evolution of one's relationship with, and beliefs about, none other than one's self. We dress god up until we no longer find the need to do so.
No, I've already explained to you that questioning the details of an accepted story is just that. You see opposition where there are only questions. And if we are to go by past communications, am I to believe that you are rude and insulting?
Gosh I find hierarchical theology tedious as they pick up the peripheral end and call it the scaffold. Now I don't look at the particular words and their order. I wear the words to examine potential effects and maybe discover something previously not illuminedother wise it feels like there is no practical function for the history. In general and consistently the hierarchical model always involves effort and personal conquest. Not from the specific issue of this resurrection back story but from the whole hierarchical idea as a young one caused me to contend with myself and raise myself up through good efforts.Spent years of struggle to find purchase and was essentially frustrated. I just couldn't seem to budge and there was no growth or retarded growth. Further the guiding markers for progress were all exercises in self denial. and we were told to endure. So here i am struggling to become worthy. Well we know not what we do. I specifically began asking, searching for a practical exercise to help me focus toward something in an orderly fashion.because there were no instructions and i was just stuck First lesson we suffer from a case of mistaken identity. Well this I had never heard before. We were told specifically who we were. Now what we were told is that was yet another distortion.. so i don't know if this is some kind of particular program to fit the individual or if these were a basic instruction. The effort went from trying to be what I had no interior model for to self discovery. I wish I had known this much earlier. It totally relieved my struggling to find and turned it into being alert to.. But anyway there is story here. The phrases in the bible when taken as entries in a single compounding and unfolding story you get the picture we are familiar with. A story of a happening that is somewhat removed from any living memory. but it turns out the phrases can be taken out of the story context and thrown into life to form part of the narrative of a different story which gave a bigger or more understandable picture The phrases are elements that function on their own in different contexts that are far from the hierarchically rigid model. This is where the phrases became part of normal everyday discussion and why I can insert them in normal dialog with out having to keep them in the orderly context of the story.and then what you thought was just there to create a turn in the story turn into hidden or overlooked axioms and elementary conjoiners of the world at large. It is like a pile of building block formulas that you had no suspicion were there because the stories continuity continually pulls you along the story line instead of being able to see the distinct independently usable formulas. The real working meanings come from associations in the world in real time. Can I borrow a pen to draw with? What does draw close mean. there is no path to direct movement. No descriptions of how this is achieved and this is a problem. It is not even looked at because everyone is on the same treadmill hoping to see some tangible result spill out. Of course there isn't any innovation or movement because we are all drifting around in the same semi comatose narrative that promises someday. No one knows the hour of his coming because this isn't waiting on time but invitation. We are procrastinating. For example the global warming which is now and the fixes should have already been instituted but we can't wean ourselves from habit and the familiar chores. Our desire for immediate satisfaction is a heavy weight to surmount as we feel we may loose it if we pause to reflect.
This is also in large part why I try to be explicit when talking about what the text actually says vs interpretive meanings or personal meanings derived from the text. I think most folks are or would be surprised if they took time to compare what they think the Bible reports against what is actually written. There are many layers contained within the text, let him that has an ear hear....
Yes, hierarchical theology promotes a belief in smallness. A belief in smallness is a declaration of lack. There are no special people; never has been. Alleged resurrections promote a belief in incompleteness, which is a lie.
If God sees everything, then why did he have to ask Adam who it was that told him that he was naked? Genesis 3:11
Not sure which of the many "Gods" is being referenced to here but "God sees everything" assumes an entity of this sort actually exists. Which is in doubt.
actually exists is not universally definable . It is a term of reality and reality is vaguely materialistic to one who eats very little yet expends great energy and gives a whole lotta love .
How would anyone ever know the god in question even has eyes? I know, I know, that whole "created in his image" thing if the god in question is the christian version, and yet, since no one has ever seen this entity, nor is there any actual proof that anyone has ever even really interacted with it, then it can truthfully be said that no one knows anything about it. Excepting, maybe, that a lot of people choose to believe in it and make up their own versions of it, and create their own attributes of it.
Thou shalt not ask another for proof . But also , you won't be punished . Do you see I have no understanding ? All I see is a rainbow circle around the sun .
