Better take his own advice dope, and just ignore him. He's adding nothing to this thread, especially not when you explain things to him that will only offend him (which seems admirable to want to change that, but he will insist on either taking it the wrong way or resort to insult/ignoring you). Nothingness is utter and total blackness. No light whatsoever. I got to the very edge of this nothingness while in a hospital ship`s morgue. That is where I was placed after having my guts shot out of my back. A very many casualties were arriving on said hospital ship and I was told they would get to me when they could and placed on a stainless steel table with a drain in it in said ship`s morgue. So, THAT IS WHAT NOTHINGNESS LOOKS LIKE. Once you slip over the edge you are gone forever.

 

Obviously I did not slip over that edge. Eventually someone asked someone: Is he still alive. Someone said yes he is. Then someone said wheel him in or something to that effect. The next thing I recall was waking up in the ship`s ICU in a lot of pain.

 

So not like what like what you see in the avatar, having actually seen something and it not causing you injury. Did it occur to you you should have stayed at home?

I did want to say good-bye to my mother and father. But a very many of us were injured and dying protecting the people back home. I was but one of many and I did live. I sometimes wish I had died then and there. That injury has never stopped hurting.

 

Is the saudi in the OP in any way responsible for what happened to you, Oscar? Isn't what happened to you a calculated risk by the people who payed you (and hopefully you were aware of the risk too)? Why should everything regarding the ignorance of certain people in the middle east result in you talking about Obama or your time as a soldier?

I think I am. You didn't really answer my question directly. You zoom out so far and answer so indirectly and vague so you can excuse the point I am making. However it seems It can be said that you slightly abuse your service history to go troll in topics about Obummer and your war wounds (the latter is of course very unfortunate but it doesn't give you a free pass).

 

Well, I was never fond of that " Devil Dog " moniker. I think was pretty much a WWII thing at best. We just called each other Marines. In fact we almost always simply referred to each other with last names only. We did NOT call each other devil dogs. But the heck with all that.

What I want Asmo and thedope to realize is that: The only thing between you and these crazy moslem fanatics is the men and women of our nations armed forces. From the likes of you gratitude is simply not there. At least learn to shut up and allow the men and women of our armed forces to do their jobs and protect you. If you ever find yourself in need of them as many American civilians have, you will be thrilled to have them there to protect you. The horror stories of US civilians lacking said protection is all too common.

I seriously doubt you went there anyway. You repeat the same simple statements too often over the time you've been on this forum (the 'obummer' joke gets really old) and you sound disturbingly closeminded and one-sided, even for a US marine. A newly made Marine and Sailor, both having graduated from their boot camps at parris island, happened to meet at the urinals in the airport bathroom, as they were waiting for their flights on their first liberty.
The Marine finishes his business, zips up and walks out the door. Shortly after, the Sailor finishes, zips up, goes to the sink and washes, his hands then leaves.
