Yesterday I took out the three turkey carcasses I had frozen from the holidays and made a batch of soup. My freezer is restocked for a bit now. I threw together something I ended up naming Ham Hash...Finely chopped ham, pinto beans, potatoes, ketchup/hot sauce.
I don't eat canned veggies or canned fruit, but the canned fish is great for soups. Fresh is better, but we can't always get it here. It's nice to have the canned ones on hand too if you decide to make an impromtu chowder!
Looks delicious. That's a big batch! I miss not having my deep freeze anymore to be able to stock up like that. My clam chowder is almost gone, piddly batch I made.
I tend to cook in batches like that so we can pull it out when life gets insane and still manage to eat well. I would be lost without my freezers, I have two chest freezers at my house in the country and a stand up one here where I rent along with two fridge freezers here.

Hello, haven't cooked anything yet. But I had a few slices of sunflower halva a moment ago and now I feel like I had eaten a whole cow . Regards Gyro
I made a beef stew with angus beef yesterday… potatoes, carrots, parsnips, celery, onions and garlic, and thyme, bay leaf, paprika and caraway seeds. The flavours melded together overnight just perfectly. I had it today with my fennel kimchi. Yum!
Do you mean the halva was made from sunflower seeds instead of sesame seeds or was it just sprinkled with sunflower seeds? I've only had the sesame halva. I love sesame but I also like sunflower seeds. Might want to give it a try if it's made from sunflower seeds.
This is reminding me that I don't cook much! Ahaha I sure manage to feed my face tho! My hips don't lie.
Hello, about 50 to 60 per cent of the halva are ground sunflower seeds. As far as I know it's very popular in Eastern Europe. The downside is that in this brand the honey is exchanged with glucose and suggar. Regards Gyro
Thanks! I'll look out for it. I didn't cook it, but I had sushi tonight, a few different ones I haven't tried before. And a cornet à la crème for dessert. Yum!
I tried a new salad today. It looked so pretty, but even better, it was sooooo good. I'll post the recipe so y'all can try it. The red onion and strawberries go really well together. Shrimp, Strawberry and Feta Salad with Apple Cider Vinegar Chia Seed Dressing Salad 7 or 8 Pacific White shrimp (or Tiger Shrimp) 1 Tbsp butter 1 tsp minced garlic salt and pepper to taste 2 cups baby spinach leaves 1/2 cup strawberries, sliced 1/4 cup crumbled feta red onion, thinly sliced Melt butter in pan. Sprinkle salt, pepper, and garlic over shrimp. Place shrimp in pan, allowing them to cook a few minutes per side just until pink on the outside. Remove from pan (pour any remaining butter over the shrimp) and set aside. Arrange spinach leaves on plate. Top bed of leaves with shrimp, sliced strawberries, red onion, and feta cheese. Dressing 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar 1 tsp lime juice 1 tsp chia seeds salt and pepper to taste Put all ingredients in a bowl and whisk until smooth. Drizzle over salad. Makes 1 large serving or 2 smaller ones.
You had to make me look it up didn't you...sounds good except for the "perfumed with rose water" part. I think I could do without that, lol
