I adore, adore, adore Harold and Maude. I can't really say too much about it, except I was floating the first time I watched it. I can't watch it and be sad, it's just not possible, even sad things in the movie are so optimistic, but not in a phoney-ish all's wonderful way either. I wish we all could be, or know, a Maude. The world would be beautiful. My favorite parts are the part about the seagulls being beautiful birds. Also, when he talked about the flowers all being the same and she corrects him. Actually, everything about the movie is my favorite part.
Amazing movie. I remember the end the best, when the car went off the cliff and ya think "Oh no, he finally killed himself.", and the camera pans back, an he's playing his banjo.
I saw it yesterday, first time. It´s so lovely!! Maude rocks!!Great music, of course!! (All the fake suicides were so entertaining, and his moms reactions ... so great.)
It was good, i liked the cat stevens music especially. All the fake suicides and his mother. I loved the part with the girl he was supposed to meet at his house.
Probably my all time favorite movie. I love everything about it, I swear. I'm not much of a movie person, really, I just like movies that are either a little out of the ordinary or ones that basically make you think. Once I was recording it onto vhs and my sister in law came over and started watching about 5 minutes of it and said "what is THIS?"as if it was just the most awful thing she had ever seen . We argued back and forth for the next 10 minutes...me trying to explain it's beauty and her turning her nose up in disgust. For my birthday, she gave me the Harold and Maude dvd. I always wondered if she just decided that I'm extremely weird and would just be halfway nice to me for a change, or if maybe I opened up her close minded world just a bit. Either way, it was an awesome gift! I watch it all the time.
I used to have a laptop with a DVDm and remember watching it once on a bus to Maine. A persona behind me asked afterwards "What was that movie". Something about watching that film on a bus to Maine...that and the Wicker Man. There are these "lost" feelings in films like that. Do you ever see films that work your brain into another place? They remind you of feelings you used to have all the time and filter tham back into your life...am I making any sense? "Spotless Mind" did that for me as well...
I would describe the film as "lovely," a lovely movie from a classic time in film making....one of my favorites.
Lol! I can't believe someone started a post on this movie. I saw it not too long ago for the first time (I'd never even heard of it) and I loved it. I like the part where they save the tree and where Maude helps him get out of being in the army... great movie!
That movie rocks. I absolutely love it. I laugh out loud every single time I see the part where Maude helps him get out of the service and he chases her because she took his shrunken head... oh lord. It's definitely one of my favorite movies of all time... even the sad parts are optimistic! And Bud Cort was a HOTTIE...
Pretty cool movie. I especially liked what he did with his Jaguar. It lookes so much better when he was finished. I also really got a kick out of how Maud dealt with the police officer while saving the tree. Hilarious!
Another great one. My 15 y.o. saw it for the first time a few weeks ago, thought it was cool. - azimuth
