What else is to blame? Who else is to blame? Do you understand jihad is obligatory? Do you have any idea how many devout Muslims there are. Do you realize the majority are kept completely ignorant of any other beliefs or way of life?

And with that in mind, we have educated Muslims from the West reinforcing these beliefs by going to join the jihad. I would think they would try to stop the killing. But I would be thinking wrong.

Don't be surprised at my reaction to evil, stupid, ppl killing innocents for their perceived slights to their religious beliefs. My belief is the free expression of ideas and that is constantly being attacked by Muslim "fanatics."

As for all the Islam apologists, do not forget that Islam spread from the middle east into India and Asia not because it was such a more realistic religion than Hinduism or Buddhism, but because the ppl were given the choice to convert or die. That is the nature of this "peaceful religion," convert the infidels or kill them. There is no room in their doctrine for co-existence.

And before the Muslim apologists call me a hypocrite, I will say that Christianity is just as guilty of the same deeds and still are in some backward parts of Africa. All religions are a bane to humanity - but the prosylitizing Abrahamic religions seem to have the most egregious body count thru out history.

A world with no religion would be nice in that we would have fewer extremist groups using their power to thwart and halt the progress of science and technological development. At one point I actually heard from somewhere that historians have estimated that if the dark ages hadn't occurred, human kind would have landed on the moon by 1760 AD.

However, if there was no religion, the globalists would still find a way to divide and conquer all Earth inhabitants against each other. Religion is simply a convenient tool to make divide and conquer process so much easier. Even if it wasn't there, they'd still use the existing methods like race, nationality, gender, political philosophy, and among many other things to keep us at war with each other.

In the book of Numbers, I think Chapter 15 (+/-?), verse 30 something, there's an anecdote about an unnamed Hebrew caught violating the Sabbath. On God's specific instruction, he was stoned to death. In a similar situation, Jesus blew it off. 'Humanity was not made for the Sabbath. The Sabbath was made for humanity,' he said. That's the value of religion. It's about how we relate to ourselves and to each other in sane, respectful, cosiderate and loving ways, and how, over time we as a species can essentially grow out of 'THE LAW' and into an inherent understanding of human dignity and cooperation.

It is difficult to distinguish religion's core values from the all-too-human failings of the people supposedly trying to make it work. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Trite but sensible advice. To this I add 'don't expect instant gratification. The loving wisdom of the prophet Mohammed (pbuh), Jesus and other visionaries is not instant coffee.

A vital part of Jesus' message is that we are adults, responsible for our own growth and development, that we are ready to understand the 'commandments' as an ocean of wisdom, not arbitrary and oppressive constraints. So I would not hold my breath waiting for a deus ex machina.

I think critical mass is acheived through the implosion of fisionable material in our case the half life of a thought. Some number must sustain themselves to achieve this. The passionate thing, that is the thing worth the effort then is that we ourselves be the one that tips the scale.

Islam is not without its problems. I don't know much about islam. But it's problems plague most religions. These so called terrorist are psychopaths who use islam as a means. Freedom of speech has always been at war with religion.beliving in any ideaology is a dangerous thing. I'm. Not going to blame islam.I'm going to forgive and love.

Can't speak for YFM of course but I think it is not the fact that you are outraged and mad at the people who committed the killings that is suprising. It is that you are so convicting of their whole belief system. You conveniently ignore that other belief systems (like that of Mao, Stalin or Polpot, yes they always get dragged into this arguments for a reason) are just as destructive. This does not mean atheism and communism are bad by definition, and the same obviously counts for religion.
What is suprising is that relatively openminded people get so closeminded and judgemental when they see something they dislike that they are completely misdirecting their anger. Well, you can do that for all I care. But when you do it in my face I give you my 2 cents. Certain fanatics did this, not the average muslim. Target your dislike and urge to convict appropriately if you must.

We don't know that at all. Speculation and wishful thinking. It could be but it could also not be like that at all.

Dude, so many people have heard this (not sure if it was estimated by historians though, anyway it is a wide spread idea) and are using it conveniently. But the fact is, this is also based on nothing more than speculation at best. Maybe without our (west european christian) cultural outlook at the end of the middle ages (which is partly influenced by our religion) we would never developed this urge to exploit, explore and expand in the way and to the extent we did.
Maybe without any monks in the early middle ages we in west europe would never entered the agricultural revolution around that time. Maybe if early west european peoples weren't connected with eachother through Rome they would have been overthrown by the arabs and berbers in the 9th century and we would all be muslim since then, etc. etc. It is really not a solid argument. Without religion (the dark ages are a period in time that are not only called dark because of religion btw) it certainly would be a very different world with very different societies but how it would be and if it would be better or worse is impossible to say.

What are you saying with this? That Hitler killed because he was a christian? That christianity is to blame because of what Hitler caused? You are aware that their belief systems is what caused people like Mao and Stalin to make such rigid decisions that caused many innocent people to die right? And that this is not so with Hitler's religious affiliation?
    Please use your brain.

edit: what if leaders with an abrahamic religion killed a million more people than secular leaders, or atheist leaders? Would that make one worth to agitate against and the other not? What is the use of this contest, Shale? Can't you just acknowledge that it are the people and deeds who should get the blame and convictions, not their belief systems (which have many peaceful followers and facets and not just the evil ones you focus upon)?

I agree that it's people who commit the deeds, not the religion. However religion is one of the factors that plays in setting up the mindset that there are outsiders that should be treated differently, for the mere fact that they are considered outsiders.

I know other institutions do this as well. I'd like to see them all gone (or at least their views on those who are not included in their groups).

I'm not including all religions or philosophies in my above statement, btw. I should have made that clear.
