Did you see North Korea's internet is down? One person said it's like North Korea vanished from the internet map (giggle). I wonder who's behind that? Somebody commented their computer system probably looks like a PacMan game with all the characters chewing up their data. They probably won't be able to google anything by the time it's done.

    That's sad. :bigcry:

There have to be some dissidents and regular folks there that are severely bummed out by it. I mean, think if you were stuck there, the internet probably would be your only possible portal to the free world.

NK internet is only for the elite few. You don't think Pig Eyes would let the masses learn anything about the outside world, do you?

Yup. Those are the guys who install the stuff for the elite. NK internet is heavily state controlled.

The rest of them are probably in some obscure re-education labour camps.

Just wondering. Do you think Kim 'Pig Eyes' is the one in charge?

He may think he is. Just like some of the child kings from England's distant past.

Well, he's not a child anymore so if he's not pulling any strings he's probably thoroughly aware of that.

Just because he looks kind of slow doesn't mean his mind is that slow or backwards. What do you really know about his mind?

Even from a distance, his immaturity is obvious. I also wonder about his intelligence and education. He may be one of those people who is easily fooled by those who want to manipulate him.

I don't think he had much choice there except to accept or die. But I'm not an expert. I just watched some interviews by people that fled the country and had some insight in the system. They seem convinced he is nothing more than a puppet kept in place so that his father's 'friends' can keep staying at the top.

I just saw "The Interview" is going to have a limited release Christmas Day. Take that North Korea! (Oh yeah, you can't. Your Internet's broken)

So, as we all could have guessed, considering they're fucking north korea and have nothing and no ability to cope with the world outside their borders, turns out it was probably not NK...

This is fucking hilarious, sony and these theater chains behaved cowardly, and now they've shot themselves in the foot.

I hope this heralds terrible trouble and a downward spiral to irrelevancy and acquisition for sony. There was no shame to getting attacked, but their response was beyond shameful (and part of a similar response by many from the president on down). They need to be dragged through the mud - and the theater companies are worse - the worst part is that those same theaters will probably make a lot of money showing it now.

In their denial, they threatened a second attack. :dizzy2:

    Precisely.

NK threatens pretty much everyone, pretty much every time they say anything at all. It's the only way they know how to handle anything. If they didn't threaten us, I'd be more scared....

Everyone's acting like this is some new hostility from NK, but it's about as close to diplomacy as they come, as I recall they frequently threaten to take the whole US in a ground war, nuke the world, take SK, nuke japan, etc.

Just wait, you imperialists, aaaaaaany day now NK will use all the capabilities they totally actually have, and then you'll all be sorry.... they've just been going easy for this last half century of the korean war, the tide is really about to turn.

I strongly suggest the vice documentary where they bribed their way onto the NK tour.

Sony now says that a limited release is now on for Christmas Day, mostly in independently owned indie theaters that are not in the habit of worrying a lot about pleasing everyone. This kind of a release is likely to be a big financial hit for Sony, which spent something like forty million dollars making the movie. All the indie and art house theaters in America combined don't have enough seats to make anything like that kind of money in a reasonable amount of time, but it was probably the best arrangement Sony could come up with on short notice. It's better than nothing.

I feel really bad for Sony, especially CEO Michael Lynton, who obviously isn't used to being in the public eye or having to make quick decisions under pressure. Typically, it takes a year and a half to two years from the time a script is approved to the time a movie appears in theaters. Studios have plenty of time to plan the distribution and premiere carefully. Nobody in the movie industry has experience in dealing with a situation like this. Hell, Lynton is still having to use his personal cell phone to communicate with employees! The company network is still fucked.

Anybody who values free speech should be pissed about what happened to Sony, no matter what you think of that company or their movie or what is in the movie. Free speech about political matters is the heart and soul of the First Amendment. It has to be protected at all costs.

I'll bet hackers all over the world are going to be hacking the shit out of everything online in NK, because that group loves free speech as much as I do. I'm rooting for them.

The movie was entertaining, but I have doubts that NK had anything at all to do with the hacking of Sony.

Any findings of who the Guardians of Peace are?
