These guys definitely deserve their own thread. I just recently heard them for the first time and now I can't stop listening. I especially like Wowee Zowee

Back when I was in high school, this girl introduced me to Pavement, and she'll forever be remembered for it! Pavement could always, instantly, put me in the most wonderful mood! I've a hard time selecting a favorite album from them; I really like Slanted and Enchanted and Crooked Rain, myself. On the same note, check out Steven Malkmus's solo stuff with The Jicks.... a little more toned down and mellow, but good as well :)

Terror Twilight is my favourite Pavament album. Spit on a Stranger and Speak, See, Remember are such great songs.

I like them...especially slanted and enchanted through wowee zowee, after that I lost interest.

my favorite thing is actually called "watery Domestic" an EP with 4 songs and a rooster on the front that came out between slanted and crooked.

Reminds me of college a lot.

i should have born a decade sooner.

quote: i should have born a decade sooner.

Yea, then you could have experienced the 80's

i saw pavement a few times, unfortunately they weren't great shows even though I loved their music...the first time I saw them was at the club where the guy from Pantera was murdered the other day.

I also saw one of their last shows....their music seems better while driving or doing someting else, for some reason it wasn't as good as you would think live.

I just bought a Slanted and Enchanted record and I love it. There is something about the first side that I just can't get enough of.

yeah, i've heard before that they sucked live sometimes, but i really respect that they were a 1-take band in the studio. as for them being good in the background of another activity, i also agree. they'll play almost the same thing again and again for 4-6 minutes, with just slight variations. they almost never change keys, and the whole sound is very linear and mellow. i always feel sort of relaxed and college-snobby when i listen to em, but occasionally that feels good.
