I must warn anyone who may be tempted to waste his good money and valuable time on this world, against watching this pile of well...(visit the News section of my site if you want the full gory details). Why does Hollywood do this? Take talented directors and actors and make them perform pantomime fit for kindergartens? What's with these surprise ending cack? Where's the surprise when you're expecting a surprise? Tell you what, I want you all to prepare a big surprise party for me, so I can really be surprised, but make sure you tell me before you do it, just to make sure that I'm surprised. There was more depth in the bottom of my latrine when I forgot to flush one night than there ever has been a Shamalamanam movie and I can assure you, the surprise I received was a lot more shocking. Please do something that will surprise me, like a movie without a surprise ending.

it was terribly predictable.. which is very unfortunate because i thought it had potential. i was fond of much of the symbolism used though

    ?

I actually enjoyed this flick, far more than any of the director's previous work (The sixth sense, now that was overhyped predictable horseshit right there)

Honestly, how could you predict that ending? I'm sure it's because the second that film got done playing on opening night, everyone was talking about it. Luckily I caught show one. Everyone who went with me said "never saw the ending coming" but everyone who went to later show's said "damn that was so predictable"

Now it wasn't god's gift to cinema, but I was pretty happy considering how many other times I wasted my seven fitty to get complete and utter garbage that really was just a waste because I could have got the same plot depth by watching the trailer. Some aspects were pretty stupid, I noticed it after I explained to someone about "the colors" Whatever though, I thought it was well worth my money.

There was no way I was going to see this movie after going to see Signs. That movie seriously pissed me off. Water kills the aliens?? Riiiight, how long did it take him to write that script. M. Night Shyamalan (however it's spelled) is a pretentious prick. But don't let me sway you, if you like 30-second pauses between each line of dialogue and excruiciatingly slow plot-lines, then you'll probably like his movies.

I really liked "The Village." The cinematography and color symbolism were both really well done, and the plot line was fairly tight. The cast was well chosen, and the acting, for the most part, was well done. While I wouldn't say that "The Village" was the best big budget film of the summer, it ranked right up there.

I guess you've also noticed how the director (Smamaramara oh, I give up) always does a guest appearance in his movies. I admit I like the way he used the reflection on the glass to honor us with his presence in this one, BUT although it was creative, it was distracting from the (inane) plot and served no purpose other than to act as the signature of an artist on a canvas of pure crap. He gives the impression that he is a Hitchcock fan, but where Alfred's technique was subtle, Shamanorama is as subtle as a baboon with piles scraping his ring on the White House Lawn, something which would generate a lot more entertainment and also appropriate criticism for the Bushwacker Administration. Still, I'm pleased to see some folks enjoyed it. Place would be a dull place if we all liked the same thing. Personally I'd rather watch the baboon laying a long brown trail on GWBush's lawn. Or even GWBush himself, after all, who can tell the difference?

I enjoyed the movie. I personally thought that the cinematography and M's use of color symbolism was quite well done. I found it to be a very beautifully written story based on just how far some people will go to seperate themselves from the rest of society in order to try and achieve Utopia.

If they wanted to get away from the evils of contemporary society all they had to do was join the Amish. In the movie they lived like them anyway, but when we watch something we also tend to suspend our belief in reality, so I'm not convinced. Beautifully shot movie? Yes, I agree. Good movie? No siree! Crock of coyote cacka!

It was pretty awful, the plot was slow and that made the movie boring

This film did an excellent job maintaining a tension throughout.

We knew very early on that there was a secret to be learned, and the slow unravelling of this secret was this films adventure.

Also, the 'hidden dangers out-there' in this film is symbolic of how many groups, tribes, and nations enforce their cohesion through fear of the misunderstood.

For me, exploring the lives and customs of utopian sub-cultures is facinating.

As far as the Amish go, I see the only similarities between the two groups were their intense cohesion, and a 19th century lifestyle. I didn't see a bible.

I was very disappointed in the movie. I was waiting for the suspense and it had none. I threw popcorn at the screen when the movie was over. I cant believe i wasted my time and money on this movie.
