legally and morally:)...I wanna consummation ...

sorry I was nt clear it was a weekend affair...and the beams this weekend and hoping the lift next weekend

we managed both beams in through one basement wall and out the other right over top the old/newly repaired foundation

    24 feet long....10 2x10s in each

here..beam 1 across the south side

beam isn't perfectly set yet because of the Canadian shield...pure granite....cannot even drill into the stuff without serious equiptment

one corner of the home is resting on a granite out cropping of the shield and the other 3 corners are lower.....so we are raising it to level plus some

and I read to ty's post...sorry of I missed something serious I should be commenting on

We had a sort of almost catastrophe today...

Around 9:20 this morning, Mama comes waking me up telling me there was a "big limb" that had fallen and we had no electricity. I had already just worked the crash into my dream. :)

I go to look at the "big branch" in the back yard..and it was the Whole Big 60+ yr old (huge) linden tree that had fallen! It fell toward and sort of on the house, knocking down the power line to the house.

I'm like wtf..."big branch"?!? ITS THE TREE! Well, of course, she couldn't understand what I was saying. :D

Anyway, we were super lucky...it could have been VERY BAD. The gutter and the edge of the roof where the gutter and roof meet had some damage. A friend of my son's that he went to school with has his own tree servicing business, complete with a bucket truck and all. After my boy called him, he and his crew came out this Sunday afternoon and they worked like dogs getting everything cut up and off the house so the power company dude could come back out and hook our electricity back up.

When I got home from work (not long ago), I came home to electricity. :hurray:

I still can't get over the linden tree falling, and falling into the house at that...but no serious damage.

I really loved that tree and have many wonderful memories from childhood playing under the branches...it was my childhood playhouse where my "imaginary" friend would come and play with me. (I could see him though.)

Oh goodness, I'm glad you're okay. :) That's incredible, you have no idea how it fell?? I can't even imagine. I remember being upset when my parents cut down the bamboo in the backyard. It made such great shade! My dad has actually cut down like... everything.

I'm still enjoying the deli. Working full time is a hassle though, whoda thunk it? :D my only day off was yesterday and I went paintballing for the first time...

NEVER AGAIN. I have five bruises and they look like psychedelic dart boards. It's horrific

    HEY Sunnygirl! :sunny: :seeya:

Yeah, not having my childhood tree hasn't really set in with me yet.

Of the many oaks here, there are 2 linden trees in the back yard. In the fall every single leaf turns sort of a banana yellow. They were always beautiful.

I think it fell because of a combination of reasons...after being dry as a drought here, it had been raining steadily and Justin (the tree service owner) said there was some root rot at the very outside of about 1/3 of one side of the tree. (But it was/is tough wood, and there was NO rotten wood that they cut.) That combo proved fatal for her. :( I had seen some bug activity I wasn't sure about this spring. maybe carpenter ants? ...or similar.

There is one other linden back there now. I'm going to see about her health ASAP. These trees were brought from NYC around the late '40's or early 50's.

I think you would be a wonderful asset to that deli...and maybe you can start a new thing...singing beautiful Italian songs to the evening crowd or something. :)

Sometimes its so loud at McD's, I can barely hear the customer's order. lol Then you have these people (usually women) can can't seem to speak above a squeaky whisper. If I get their order wrong...well, that's too bad. :p

I compare it to a zoo...for more reasons than one. :D

Nobody responded so I figured I missed something... Don't let Orison see that service panel though, looks of wiring nightmare. :p

The speed of dreams freaks me out sometimes... I had a dream lastnight, not sure where I was at, staying somewhere and there were these Mexicans living across the street. Nice younger family, stoners, ran a small store I had bought stuff from in the past. I was outside doing something and smelled some nice skunky weed... I waved and they waved back and smiled. The smell kept getting stronger and stronger... as I was waking up I'm thinking "How the hell would you even get smoke like that home, the smell would soak through 4 zip-loc bags..." As the dream is still partially happening, I'm drifting in and out, I'm walking across the street, going to get some candles I had left over there and get a hit off that doob.

Finally drifted enough to this side of reality to realize we got skunk bombed and I had to get up and close the windows. :smilielol5:

I think I've been too long without weed...

Ty, that made me laugh. :)

Lyn, glad you are all safe and that the damage was minimal.

Mr Rolling, that is a huge job to be doing. Glad it is at least going well. I will see if I can find you a chick, no point cleaning for nothing! ;)

    Orison, ear plugs? :)

Sunshine, glad your new job is going so well!!
