I remember I slept on my friends water bed once. I really can't remember if I liked it or not. I must have fallen asleep quickly though and slept well if I can't remember. I'm more of a mountain person rather than ocean though. So I'd probably rather sleep on the floor.

I slept on a futon on the floor for at least 30 years until I started having trouble with my back and hips. Since then I sleep on a futon on a simple wooden frame about the height of my knees. This makes getting out of bed a lot easier for me.

i had a waterbed growing up. it's still in my room at my parents' house. it was heavenly, but i didn't have any problem switching to a regular mattress.

I do tend to fall asleep on the floor in the tv room, surrounded by cats & pooches.
Very often-usually,in fact-the tv isn't on as I'm reading or just strumming a guitar.
I don't mean to,but it's really comfy to just snooze off to cats purring.
I've often woken up hours later, only to say 'Sod it,I'll stay here'.

I personally really like the floor with no mattress, just blankets and pillows! From age 8-probably age 15 i slept on my floor most nights even though i had a bed.

I hate waterbeds. Just don't like them.
A neighbor had a hard time with a mattress on the floor, so he used a rope from a beam in the ceiling to pull himself up. Could decorate it to look pleasant if need be.

Waterbeds are nice and all but i think they're a bit over-rated.

I am not opposed to it but it is definitely not my preference either.

I don't like having the mattress on the floor because I have a long haired dog that sheds a lot so I feel like I'm just breathing in dog hair if I'm right on the floor, but I've been thinking of getting rid of my bed frame and box springs and putting my mattress on a platform about a foot off the ground. I feel like this would save some space as my bed frame is kind of clunky plus I've heard box springs are bad for your back.

I have never had a mattress on the floor with the exception of an air mattress when camping. I like it off the floor not only because of dust and being so low but also by being raised there is at least some air circulation around it.

I'm not too particular of where I sleep but my circum stance is a place where people can rest easy.

A waterbed felt weird to me. Plus, the sex was thrown off completely because of the movement. I sleep on my couch with a comforter, even tho I have an empty bedroom. Makes me feel----I don't know---like I'm not settled in or something--like back in my 'itchy feet' travelin' days.

I used to sleep in a sleeping bag out under the stars. It was awesome. Now I am housebound and raising a family, and my body prefers a mattress instead of the ground. My mattress (cotton futon) is on a little wooden platform, as my floor is just concrete and too cold otherwise. In the future I would like to do more outdoors sleeping, but this time I will pile up leaves/grass as my mattress, as I have gotten soft :)

I slept on an air mattress directly on the floor for a while. Now this is not too bad except for cheap air mattresses leak air and you will wake up with part of your body directly on the hard wooden floor most likely in a decent amount of pain. A real mattress on the floor is not too bad. The bed I have now is only 12 inches off the floor (the mattress adds about another 6 inches) but sometimes I sleep on my couch but the cushions sink unevenly under my body weight so my back sags down and be hurting pretty bad in the morning. This makes it easier to get up though, when its not too comfy, especially if you have to get up and grab some Tylenol.

i don't like how high beds are. i prefer a nest type arrangement on the floor, or in my case, the v berth.

I capitulated to my management and got a steel raised single flat-pack bed online.I still have happy memories of sleeping on a mattress on the floor, but I guess I'm just not that hardcore anymore.I get a lot of grand ideas that never come to fruition...

There is actually something called the "Grounding Movement" which basically explores and states the idea that the closer your body is to the ground, earth, or floor, the more in-contact you are with your sense of self and surroundings, and that energy is absorbed from the earth into you. People who have these beliefs sleep on the floor (or ground) and don't wear shoes with soles or go barefoot.
A little weird but you post reminded me of it, lol.
