Well, you started out by objecting to my first statement about "Hippys not being gun toting military supporters" and I made that statement when I was having a dialog with another contributor. I think it is odd that you claim freedom of speech and expression for your self while at the same time deny me that basic human right. I think that I should be able to contribute to an article about the Middle East. When I entered this dialog it was with Xemenis and Odon II. I get my Middle East information from Middle East newspapers, and Russian, and Dutch. I don't rely on American news, because American news sources are owned by defense contractors who wish to advance their own agenda. I am looking at the action in the Middle East; and, I am contrasting it with Viet Nam, Grenada, Panama, El Salvadore, Columbia, and 1991 Iraq. :sultan:
Latest news as reported by the BBC reports IRANIANS launching AIRSTRIKES in support of IRAQI forces against ISIS forces. I did say in a previous posting that the Iranians were very concerned about islamic revolution nearing their borders. This is weird when you realize the Iranians have in the past promoted islamic revolution. NOT to their liking as said revolution approaches Iran`s border. As reported by BBC here: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-28125687 More here on competing jihadi forces: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-28090386 So this islamic violence knows no bounds and has no desire for peace even among themselves. They are literally crucifing each other in this maelstrom of religious insanity as discussed at above link. Many other BBC links about this fast moving and dangerous situation at the above links. Anyone who thinks they know it all about all this is fooling themselves. The middle east crazier than ever and no one knows what this religious insanity is leading to. Not good. INSANE FOOLS. ...Oscar
Dude, I don't know why, nor do I really care but you keep pegging me all wrong. I never claimed you didn't have a right to free speech. (Just of course if you're gonna give a blanket statement about everyone in a thread I also have a right to call you on your bs).... I also had no problem with you saying hippies aren't gun toting warmongers or whatever you said. (Although I do believe some sects of hippies... back from the 60's did carry guns, but whatever, that's neither here nor there).... what I had an issue with was it seemed like you came into this thread and weren't referring to any specific person... just said "NONE of you know shit about the middle east and hippies aren't...." blah blah blah. All I thought was you are quite arrogant to make assumptions about everyone in this thread. Just like later on you came back and said I said I was conservative.... in which I'd more likely had told someone at some point I have purple skin than I am conservative. Oh...and btw... in regards to the US training ISIS... I don't want to get my info from infowars. Can't stand Alex Jones and Info wars so not going there to find anything out...
stormountainmanTry Infowars.com No Thank You. also try RT.com (Russia Today) No Thank You. also try Azzaman the Iraqi Arabic language newspaper. It has an English version In 2005, Azzaman lost a libel lawsuit, and issued strong retractions of its previous allegations against Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned. It emerged during the trial that the paper had accepted money from Saudi authorities to do propaganda and intelligence work for the Saudi government The international edition, Azzaman in English, is fiercely critical of the U.S. occupation in its editorials, accusing U.S. leaders of violating "every single article of international conventions laid down to regulate the behavior of occupation troops" and of deploying "shallow, naive, and childish" rhetoric to defend their goals in the region. Not looking good, but I will give it a try. I'm definitely going to double check your posts now.
OK, if you don't like Alex Jones, try Democracynow.org, try Informationclearinghouse, or try Truthout. I hope you don't come back to me with FOX news as the gospel of America.:sultan:
I couldn't tell you exactly where I get my information from. All over the place, to be honest. From Facebook feeds to Informationclearinghouse and everything else in-between. To be fair, I don't NOT read RT and Infowars if I happen to stumble across an article. It's just not my go-to source of valid/valuable information. Until recently RT and Democracy now did figure in my Facebook 'liked' pages - generally to get an 'alternative' mainstream viewpoint - but I just got sick and tired of their BS. I'm considering dumping HuffPostUK, too. Patronising much? Why do you care where we get our information from, anyway?
Well, you did make comment about my sources. Now your sources remain covert. My sources are respected academic sources who verify the source of the information. It is like citing references in college. Try SHABAKA AFTAB, it 's a Persian language source. You might like it. You can even try the Arabic language El Hawadith. It is from Iraq. Then there is Al Ahram from Egypt. By the way, I also read the Jerusalem Post, just to get a more complete understanding. Ciao OdonII:sultan:
The underlying assumption on this thread seems to be that if you look at the 'right' media, you'll get accurate information about the situation. Personally, I doubt that's the case. Far more is going on in Iraq and the Middle East in general that we will never be informed about. The media aren't privy to all that goes on behind the scenes, behind closed doors. The best we can get is some kind of rough outline, and usually that's prejudiced one way or another depending on what source you're looking at.
Thank you BlackBillBlake, I think Bill Moyers would agree with you too. Truth in the media is one thing, and an important one; however, when government officials intentionally withhold information from the public, it's not much of a democracy. When a government official says it's classified and, "I can't tell you where I get my information," people like us need to raise the red flag and blow the whistle. Government officials aren't better than us!:sultan:
RT and Infowars? :smilielol5: Both those seem a little fringe. Thanks, anyway. I'm happy with just stumbling along finding info from anywhere and everywhere. Where ever it is from (even from within the country where the issue is) doesn't mean it's going to be any more or less accurate than if my local newspaper decided to print a story on it. If that makes sense. Ciao
I'll try democracynow (which I do watch occasionally when it's on tv and like a lot of what I have seen them say).... and information clearinghouse. And no... haha, I Know fox news is the most biased news cable news channel in the us. Overall I like to get my news from not fox, msnbc or even cnn anymore... although occasionally I will watch whatever because I know how to filter what is truth and what is bias. Just wanna say that it's laughable about info wars being a respected academic source.... I have read a lot on info wars in the past (after for years seeing signs all over my town about info wars)... and some of it I do agree with or think there is at least a good bit of truth to it.... But some of the stuff Alex Jones's comes up w is so crazy that I have started to think...or at least wonder... about Alex Jones being a disinformation agent.... meaning he puts stuff out there on purpose sometimes to throw people off course. But anyways....
Kurds kicking jihadi ass bigtime: https://www.************/FUNKER530/posts/753288424722796 Remember the Kurds ? They led the charge into Saddam`s Iraq. US special forces left behind as they annihilated Saddam`s forces. Never sell these Kurds short. They don`t play around and jihadis know it. Well they do not have balls but they sure do have COURAGE ! ! !
Thank you AT, I completely understand your concern about Alex. I am not an Alex worshiper; however, he has put stuff on in the past that was weeks or months ahead of everyone else. He does cite sources. He does push Libertarian political slant. He is constantly anti Obama and anti government. The endless harping does get old after a while. I speak read and write several languages and do get my information from outside the USA. The problem is most Americans can't read it, so I have to wait until the same story comes out on an American venue. When the Wikileaks helicopter video came out --where US troops were slaughtering un armed Iraqi civilians--Alex Jones was the second to put it on for the American people to see. In contrast, GANNET suppressed the video and story. :sultan:
'slaughtering'? http://www.aljazeera.com/programmes/witness/2012/08/2012823616123717.html A good e.g of two contrasting points of view with one piece of evidence.
Hippies don't show up unless the draft shows up. They don't all go to Canada either. They just spread out to where they can. Drop out. Tune in. I'm not going to fight a war for the elite. So they can suck down aged meat, while the wine drips down their chins into their bibs. Talking about the latest news they paid for. All the while gurgling and laughing at the assholes that actually believe all that shit. Al Jizzeria. Yea I believe them like no one rich has anything to do with that. The only hypocrisy worse than the crap the elites pumps out. Are the people that wipe elite but for a living.
Interesting how this ISIS lot appeared out of "nowhere". Or rather, since Obama had the "bright" idea of arming Al Qaeda in Syria. One thing I know for a fact, if I want to find a bunch of terrorist quickly, I'd just turn up at the assembly of the Capitol building in Washington. Because there are fucking hundreds in there. PS no replies will be answered. I wouldn't waste my time arguing with Ted Bundy, or that Boko Haram. Nor would I spend time debating with equally distasteful individuals like the supporters of Obama, McCain, Hillary Clinton and Nuland etc. And that includes you, Asmodim.
What's happening in Iraq is the result of a crazed, deluded, and evil (non-religious) group of people. They do not belong to any religion, as it is completely forbidden in Islam to force conversion upon anyone. We consider Jews and Christians fellow people of the book, and anyone truly following God's wishes would be living in peace and harmony with one another. These idiots are hijacking the name of Islam the same way the Zionists are hijacking the name of Judaism, and the Westboro Church group is hijacking the name of Christianity. Despite popular belief, most of the horrible things happening around the world right now are the result of corrupt, powerful, and rich groups of people doing whatever it takes to maintain that power and pit civilians against one another. They use people as pawns and cause them to hate each other due to "religious, racial, ethnic, or cultural differences" so that we are all distracted and don't see the bigger picture and what's really going on. I wish more people were smart enough to realize this. What we need is peace and love. That's the only way to win this war against evil.
I don't think they are. What are you getting at, though? Whatever they are, they are crazy and wrong, and they are making all kinds of innocent bystanders appear to be the bad guys.
