I can't imagine that marijuana is a very powerful pain reliever. Best stuff is the hydrocodone and things like that.
But whatever works for you. Perhaps you only need a mild pain releiver and for YOU marijuana does that. So go ahead and consume it if its legal for you.

no, might as well just shoot up heroin daily, thats the best pain reliever ;)

^i'm bein' cynical, heroin is a strong pain reliever but also highly addictive. studies say that marijuana is effective, more or less effective depending on the type of pain. it's a different mechanism, and surely less harmful. long term treatment with opiates almost always leads to addiction problems

I have injested marijuana only through edibles for 2 years now. (I'm sort of jealous of you smokers...but that's another story. :) )

I have broken 7 bones...both wrists and one arm about 2" above the wrist, elbow, the bone that runs from your little finger to the wrist and 2 ankle bones (at the same time). (Little bones such as fingers and toes, I've broken 4 of them.) My back got messed up when I was 20 and I'm 57 now.

I KNOW edibles work. I think smoking works to some degree...but I have no doubt that injesting cannabis absolutely positively works for pain management.

If you have chronic pain, and marijuana doesn't work, then becoming an addict is going to be the cost of having pain relief.
I guess if I got a chronic disease that makes my life shitty I won't care if im addicted. Because at least I wouldn't be suffering.

^^^that implies much room for improvement when it comes to pain medication. therefore, i wouldn't call opiate pain relievers "the best"

I experienced a traumatic brain injury in October of 2009 which caused brain damage to my frontal lobe. I also was diagnosed with Post-Concussive Syndrome, which essentially means I suffered from 24/7 pain and concussion-like symptoms for over 3 years. I tried everything they threw at me, including some narcotics. None of it worked, and I hated taking pills everyday. I tried smoking pot the 4/20 after my injury, and it immediately eliminated my pain, every time. I tried pills for about 2 years before I said fuck it and switched to pot. I was able to completely stop all of my pain medication. I still smoke weed daily and my pain has yet to come back in over a year.

Also, I did A LOT of research before I started, and I have a 20 page document of quotes, sources, etc, if you're interested.

I have some TBI issues, a broken neck, worn out lower back, and denenerated knees and shoulders, and cannabis makes it possible for me to keep going. That said, I've been out for three days, totally broke, and hurt too bad to work. I will be hibernating until the green goddess smiles upn me again. :) Gotta get my camper trike done so I can get back up to CO!

PS Thanks Skip for all the hard work! Love the new site so far!

It's good for many things. Helps with my back pain, respiratory problems, and helps me connect to my inner self.

It's one of the really great medicinal plants. An ally of mankind. People who want to ban it are simply fucking idiots.

I've found this too. It lets me concentrate past it. It numbs it a bit too but the caring about or not being able to focus on it part really helps too. I've also noticed that dabs don't work near as well for pain as smoking flowers does.

I'm hoping to have enough growing to start juicing it raw regularly too. See what effect that has on the pain with long term usage. I know it makes turds smell good!

I use an oil from it and rub it in painful spots and also take it internally for sleep (I have asthma and therefore cannot smoke)
