I don't hate him, I think he is an empty suit. Did it help when those same people who love him were beating on Bush?

One persons "special interest" is anothers : cause celebre.

Would be nice if our media was up to reporting on political issues. We have "Rolling Stone Journalism" where mere politicians are accorded the status of rock stars with little critique or inqury.

It's kind of ironic that you used that term, because in the last five years only Matt Taibbi formerly of the Rolling Stone has reported accurately on the financial crisis that has so weakened the USA. He's the only one whose paymasters didn't force him to be nice to Wall Street.

Indeed, Rolling Stone is one of the last bastions of investigative journalism in the United States. Not saying it's all perfect, nothing is, but I don't really see the basis in throwing around "Rolling Stone journalism" as some sort of pejorative.

Yes, because, you know, if you don't like the things a democrat has done while in office (for me in regards to not closing gitmo, gmo's, marijuana (arrests), drones and more).... then you know, you have to be on the side of, or assisting the republicans. Everyone knows it HAS to be one or the other, right?

This is the best post in this thread.

Obama has helped me realize that he is no different than the republicans...that they are essentially the same thing (yes, there are a few differences-superficial things that don't matter much if at all, to make certain people happy, but I'm talking about when it really comes down to it)--- and that all the republican/democrat...left/right back and forth and hatred is just a game to keep people distracted.

And this... to add to my other disappointments I listed in previous post.

    Most likely.

    So I give you that.

But I think repubs are gonna stop fighting it and it'll be fully legalized within... (pick one-5 years, 10 years, 14 years) regardless of whether there is a D or R as POTUS. Because....cpl things.... public opinion have turned way too far towards that side, along w valid medical science.... annnd R's are starting to realize they can get some green (you know, the money kind) based on regulation. It's gone too far towards that side and who's in office will matter no more on those lines...

Nonsense. The differences in the two parties is clear and definite, they are polar opposites. Are you perhaps STP on a different account?

I mean just look at how the republicans vote on the subject of abortion/women's reproductive rights, on labor issues (unions for instance, the republicans hate them) and immigration.

The parties are not the same. They are at war with one another.

Explain to me what the "Circus Act" of the two party system is distracting us from exactly?

    *braces himself for conspiracy theory*

Thing is when it comes to war and other things that I consider BIG... the biggest things...nothing changes no matter who's in office. I wouldn't even be surprised if some of the talk on things like immigration for example isn't just feed for the circus-because, you know, nothing ever happens anyways. When was the last time there was comprehensive immigration reform? Long time ago, right.

And yes, by all means.... keep arguing over birth control and abortion--- til you're all blue in the face while our freedom's are taken away....started by Bush, continued by Obama... and while wars are waged throughout the world and life as we know it is no more....because, you know, birth control and abortion are what really matter, right? (No one is going to make birth control illegal anyways-ever... nor abortion) but keep feeding into that.

And no, nice try. I don't always agree or disagree with STP... but I am far different from him. For one... I have voted democrat for a POTUS *edit five separate times. (changed from 5 to 4 because with thinking about it....God...I'm getting OLD) I don't THINK STP has at all. And how many times have you redfox?
I'm sure I have done way more for the Dems in general than you.... but I'm tired of the partisan games. Done.

And btw, STP rages on liberals/dems all the time... but not really on repubs... I say stuff about both.... and believe me, I hated Bush more than Obama. But I also see Obama as Bush 2 or Bush continued.

Also, STP rages on liberals.... and for me, well...Obama is a liberal? LMFAO. No he is not. He's way not liberal ENOUGH for me. It's go big or go home with me.

    I don't perpetuate conspiracies.

And I explained in previous post... stripping of our rights and freedoms. As well as distracting us from foreign policy and our financial situation and all the things that really matter that people will wish were fixed 20 years from now.

Okay, I apologize for jumping the gun, I was quick to mistake you for one of those crazies who think humanity is ready to function without government completely, how somehow it wouldn't all end up a desperate, barren Mad Mad battlezone just because they have decided we would all play nice. You know, the type that swear that the enemy of mankind and root of all evil is government.

You seem to be more balanced and reasonable than that. Excellent, and sorry for getting off on the wrong foot with you. Obama is pretty moderate, all things considered, and I am not perfectly happy with his progress, but I also always keep in mind how the conservative party acts to thwart every solution his administration comes up with.

The march of progress is gradual, because for everyone who thinks of a goal as progress, there's also a person who considers it a horrible mistake. I think it's a yin and yang thing...you know, whatever plan you conceive of, be ready for the person who's gonna take the opposite position.

    You're right, course they're different.

They differ on important stuff like.... well... you know... abortion, and gay rights, and that kinda shit. Duh!

Forget about global invasion of foreign nations, policing the world, corporate-favoritism, raising the debt, and trampling of constitutional rights. They favor the same shit there, but you know, that's not important at all is it. ;)

No, you make some good points there, Fueled by Coffee, the same evils we've had to deal with for so long. This government isn't perfect, I'll agree with that, but we'd have a much worse situation on our hands if it fell apart.

    :)

Well, I'm not happy at all with congress either and I know how they block.

Anyways....sigh... yes, I have stayed away on purpose from stp's other thread. Because- sigh... I think his heart is in the right place and I wish I could be so idealistic. If I felt that any form of anarchy and everyone just getting along would work... if I thought there was a CHANCE I'd think it's a great idea. But sadily I don't even trust not locking my door when I'm AWAKE... forget when I'm asleep... As many good people as there are, sadily there are many crazies too and I have run into too many of them through my life to be naive and think they would all just settle down and get along peacefully if there was no government.

That said, our two party system is not working and I think there needs to be major chance. Maybe when people get sick and tired enough of Washington in general and the two party system and get together at the same time someone truly different- not owned by money and the parties will get elected and maybe we can have more change. If not I'm afraid it'll just be more of the same with things just getting worse also and more rights and freedoms gone. But as much as I wish I could believe in a society without government, unfor. I am too realistic for that.

Obama has given himself the power to execute american citizens at will, he's made it a felony to "distrupt the orderly conduct of government." Which can be used to restrict Free Speech. He has given Himself the authority to take anything he wants from you at will. and, worse of all, the Federal Government can detain anyone "suspected" of terrorism, with no type of trial indefinitely

Your hero obama has been a nightmare.

Btw- thnks for the shout out. You're relly cool insulting two people with one ignornt post
Some people feel that abortion is legalized murder. Liberals say reproductive "Rights," But, a person cannot kill their newborn baby. imo, it is the same thing. It is murdering an innocent child, due to "inconvenience."
This is a load. They are exactly the same. They're both going in the direction of total Government Control.

Romney and Obama BOTH supported the Ndaa, the patriot act and, Obamacare.

Politics is just like pro wrestling- Fake. Entertainment, for the trillions and trillions they waste. Divide and conquer (and, make a shitload of money doing it)

I don't think you understand the entity that you support. In essence, Government is a criminal racket. Majority consent, does not give them power and authority over everyone, and they do not own me, or my work ethic.
